I did a few searches and found an old thread from '06 that stated that XBMC would not open multiple connections while doing HTTP streaming. Is this still the case? If so, any suggestions for ways to work around it and take advantage of an internet connection that is faster than what the provider is allowing to come through a single connection/socket?

streaming media does not work like bittorrent where multiple simultaneous connections makes it faster.

that may be true for most instances, but in the case that you're simply accessing a file via HTTP, it would be possible to open multiple connections and in the background have XBMC in the background be playing off a temp file.

then its not streaming, its downloading via use of the content-range header (which may or may not be supported by the server.)
