video dark after on tv after i upgraded video card
#1
Hello everyone. I need some help. I updated my pc from an i5 to an i7 and changed my video card in the process. I'm running windows 10 (1909)
I7 9th gen 3.60ghz  video card  Gigabyte Geforce 1650, Kodi 18.5. My pc is hooked up to my tv, but the videos are very dark in Kodi. Even when I use Kodi on my regular pc screen. I tried adjusting the color on the tv and changing the HDMI level color on the tv and tried turning on the color management option and limited color range in Kodi.

Any ideas on how to get the great picture that I had previously running an older cheaper card which was a zotac geforece 9600gso. All help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A lot of movies these days are very dark, many laid off lighting technicians followed.

Interesting that one graphic card could be so different from another, I was going to suggest Video levels and color space (wiki) and https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=297218 but it looks like you have already investigated. Try switching render methods.

Stick that card back in, get a hold of the Nvidia and suggest their Geforce 1650 is not at the same level of PQ as your old sad Zotac. As a precaution you might want to get a hold of some colour reference software to calibrate the display. There is a small possibility that card is defective. the crazy thing is the darkness only shows in Kodi. In VLC, Media Classic my colors are great as they were with the old card.

Then there is always External players (wiki) but I would suggest you investigate some of the 3rd party Kodi Matrix additions first.

I'm so use to using Kodi. I'm not a fan of nightbuilds, since they're never stable.
