v20 Kodi crashes randomly
#1
HI,

I installed Debian 12 (Bookworm) "Fresh Install" then Kodi Nexus 20.1 I fixed some crashing issues but it still crashes, sometimes on startup and sometimes when it feels like it. I looked at the logs but I can't find why it crashed

Here some crash logs with debug

As per common sense, all video repositories and/or add-ons with with you are watching the latest movies, tv episodes, sports, etcetera for the fraction of the normal fee, or even totally for free.

Also, our own paste service has a handy 'banned add-ons' option, see here for your 1st log: https://paste.kodi.tv/cuqapelevi.kodi
All entries colored in orange are to be fully removed.

And yes, restrictions are active for newcomers to our forum. These will vanish over time.

@NeverADullMoment
I think it's best when the forum mods and admins do the yapping on whatever forum restrictions are active.
This being posted as your first forum contribution is a little weird.

Starting Kodi from Debian (20.1 Debian package version: 2:20.1+dfsg-1). Platform: Linux x86 64-bit

@basilgello should have fun with this one

official debian kodi running bookworm with 6.1 kernel on a cpu from 2008 is where i stopped reading

Instead of laughing or saying I've stopped reading, explain to the person what's wrong

that's mutual aid, that's not making fun of others

thats not laughing thats me backing out while tagging the official kodi from debian maintainer so they may provide assistance

there have already been reports of issues on kernel 6+
you are running a testing version of debian not a stable one so unexpected bugs are expected
from that testing version you are running the official from debian version of kodi - which is maintained by debian
with all that your hardware is 15 years old

so basil will be the best person to help if there is any help to be had

ok sorry if i misunderstood. you say i am in test mode when i installed debian which is just released how can it still be in test mode when it is released to the public?? I downloaded debian 12 from the debian website. yes my hardware is 15 years old but it works very very well I never have any problems with Debian 10 and Kodi leia 18. I wanted to update all, I don't think I should have

the public tests software thats the way open source works ..... you can also download the alpha testing version 21 of kodi that doesnt mean it is stable

apparently i missed the press release, debian bookworm entered stable on the 10th of this month - https://www.debian.org/News/2023/20230610

more information on how testing works - https://wiki.debian.org/DebianTesting

debian 11 (bullseye) would have been a better option, in my opinion, since it has been stable since august 2021 - https://www.debian.org/News/2021/20210814

with that, however, kodi will only be at 19.4 from debian

-----

i personally run debian 11 kernel 5.1 with kodi 20.1 and kodi 21 alpha with no issues but i compiled my own kodi builds from github
