A.I.M. infrared RC - need driver (Xp Pro SP3)
#1
Hi guys,

recently purchased one of these:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=218643

for my friends laptop (using vista and xbmc).

Works fine, vista supplied the driver for the remote.

I picked one up for myself (XP), and sadly the remote only works in vista. It did say on the box (vista only) but I thought surely picking up a driver for it in XP would be no problem? -- Wrong!

I've tried DriverGeniusPro, DriverDetective (driver-scanning-and updating apps), nothing. Tried various drivers around from searching google, nothing worked. and the company's name "AIM (ahead in multimedia)" has no official site.

I also have my xbox remote control which I'd far rather use but its just a pain getting xp to recognise the infrared usb dongle.

anyone have any suggestions? (and please I dont want to hear, buy another). There has to be a way that dosen't invovle returning this to Maplin.

you might want to have a serious look at this cool tool.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=231553

its writen specifically for xbox original remotes. it is very easy to setup, and runs almost exact to on xbox.

all you need is the usb ->xbox cable (thanks ebay usa)make sure you get right sex though.

hope this helps,

Thank you all the same, but I want to get this one working with minimal usb-peripheral-age. Smile

So I'll ask another way, has anyone used an RC that, when plugged into XP, they couldn't find a driver? And did they solve it?

--i cannot seem to find a driver anywhere.
