i will migrate my htpc from windows to linux.

At the moment i am using a creative X-FI (not well supported in Linux).
Is there any recommendation for a soundcard supporting SPDIF output to my amplifier ?

I am planning to use ubuntu 8.10

works great with ubuntu 8.04 and xbmc. i guess you can buy any kind of soundcard with a cmedia cmi8738 chipset.

i just got a creative audigy SE.... i get digital sound...
but not in XBMC (just when using VLC for example).

any idea how to turn on the xbmc support ? (digital is activated in xbmc already)

no, i'm sorry. i've tried that with an audigy2 and i couldn't get the digital-out to work in xmbc. after i plugged in the cmi8738 card, it worked out of the box.
