I recently bought a Point of View ION motherboard (ion chipset, atom N330 dual core, Samsung Spinpoint F2EG ext4). I read a lot of positive stories about XBMC, so I decided to try it myself.
The problem after hours of trying, cursing and yelling, is that a FullHD movie wont run smoothly. The weird thing is, on ALL forums I read, it works everywhere, with exactly the same hardware.
Out of desperation, I did a clean install this morning to rule everything else out. This is what I did:
- Installed Ubuntu 9.04
- Run update manager, installed every update
- Install nVidia driver according to this guide:http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52259
- Install XBMC, with that guide as well.
- Set renderer to VDPAU
- play Earth.mkv from external HDD
Thats all, it works with everyone, but not for me . Another weird thing is, its not worse with "The bird scene" than with any other scene, so I'm not sure it is my gpu's fault. Does anyone have suggestions for what i can do to make this work? My linux knowledge is not outstanding, so dont make it too complicated please
