1. If you want to stop Media Center from being in the way:
you need to kill all processes which start with "EH" such as ehtray.exe etc. (do this in task manager)
then press "windows key + r", type "msconfig", go to startup and disable all the windows media center ones (again most exes start with eh)

2. now you need to use a program to map your remote buttons to command. I use "eventghost".
I'm not sure what languages it is available, but its VERY good.
