XBMC shutdown ends in System not reacting
#1
Hi there,

i got some strange problems..

when i run "shutdown -h now" as root, my system gets shutdown without any problems..

BUT, when i use XBMC to shutdown or hybernate my system turns off keyboar, mouse, network and (i think) my videocard, but stays on all the time.

only thing that works then is press the power button for 3 seconds to power off the pc the hard way.

does anybody know what this could be?

xbmc runs under root.

Code:
uname -a = Linux kubax-vdr 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
GPU = Mesa DRI (ATI Radeon 9800, for some reason couldn't compile ati drivers, but thats not the problem)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 (3200+)
RAM: 2GB
XBMC: pre-9.10 r22839 (Compiled: Sep 9 2009) with vdr TV mod

xbmc starts according to the howto by MrCerulean

Errr your video drivers very well could be the problem, I'm not sure why you think they're not.
I've seen many a system lock using the wrong drivers or when trying to run graphically intense software when the hardware/driver couldn't handle it.

At any case using the mesa driver with xbmc is bad news.

hmm, i thought that, beacause evrything else works fine, xbmc works fine, and shutdown also works very good (when called from terminal or ssh)
cd /pub/ && cat Beer
