Recommendations: Looking for the most compatible Remote for Windows 7x64 and XBMC
#1
I gave up trying to configure my old original xbox dvd remote and another generic remote from ebay. Good thing I was able to return for a refund the generic remote.

Can anyone please help me or give recommendations on what remote to use to be completely compatible with Windows 7x64. No Logitech devices please. As much as I love their products, They just seem to be too expensive for my taste.

Thanks! Nerd

Windows Media Center RC + Eventghost = done.
Lots of posts here on how to use/configure this combo. Its what I use and it does everything I need.

I'm using the iMon receiver in Media Center mode + iMon manager software + Harmony One remote configured as a Media Center remote.

The iMon remote + iMon receiver in iMon mode works too, but I have a one remote limit in my living room. Harmony One + imon receiver in imon mode, does not work very well.

The iMon stuff came mounted in my htpc casing, and works fine, however I wouldn't have bought it seperatly.

I'd say generic media center remote + receiver combo + eventghost is the way to go. I have this running on another computer, and it works a treat.

Unless some other software is interfering all MCE remotes should work with my mods to the Camelot Alpha.

thanks for all the inputs...

the next question would be...
where can i purchase a compatible mce remote?
i've tried numerous ebay and local resellers.

eventghost can't seem to detect the presence of the IR receiver. Sad
any recommendations on where i can purchase an mce certified receiver?

I use the one that came with my TV tuner card, but any MCE remote will work.
Here's one on NewEgg for $23

This is the one I'm using. It took some effort to get it working, I'll see if I can do a quick write-up later if needed.

Note that this probably isn't a "proper" windows media center remote, its more of a keyboard/mouse emulator. I would shop around for a regular one if I were you, it's a bit of a hassle setting it up.
