Yes it does have expansion slots. 2 x PCI-e x 1 which is some crazy PCI format that doesn't support anything.

If you look at the picture here, you'll understand what a PCI-e x 1 is.

i dont see a problem with that. i can find a few vdpau copmatible nvidia cards for the pci-e 1x slot. They seam to be of the brand club 3d.

if you are lucky the slots in your computer is "open-ended" in that case you have quite a lot of cards too chose from.

AFAIK pci-e x1 arent for video cards. If you ever find one I dont think it will be able to do any HD stuff. I know because I used to have a friend that needed a 3D card and all he had available were x1 slots and regular PCI's and we got him an nvidia PCI card so that he could play games better, but far as I remember... was the 6200, dont think you'll find a 8200 that fits in PCI.

Also, is my understanding that PCI doenst have the transfer speed that you'd require for HD content.

Well as i never tried this i cant be sure. But my guess is that the teoretical transferrate of 250MB/s would do just fine for HD decoding.
However broadcom crystal hd is on mini pcie this has enough bandwith to decode HD.

quite many people are acually running full HD vdpau on pci:
