For some reason scaling was turned off in Live 9.11B. This should not be turned off by default. This should be considered a bug as it causes unnecessary power to be wasted when the media centre is used as a dvd player or a VCR and left on all day. I bought my unit because it is considered energy efficient. The whole concept of LIVE is that it makes any device into a user friendly media center, and it's not friendly to waste the user's power.
We really need a dev forum for the OS configuration for Live. Every version changes and who can keep up with all the little things that have to happen to make it work on every computer? The processor scaling option is on by default, someone turned it off. This is the kind of thing that can be avoided by having a "universal" configuration forum for LIVE, or at least a feedback thread where it can be discussed.
Scaling is there for applications like media centres. When you aren't using the processor, it will conserve power and drop down to like eg. 800mhz. When you are using the processor it scales up to eg. 1800mhz. Power scaling is there for for a combination of power and energy efficiency. If "power users" want it off , then allow them to modify it. For the average user, leaving their XBMC running all day it's a waste of power to have scaling turned off.
