"me too" - I am having the same problem since updating to beta 1 on kubuntu karmic x86_64. Maybe a x86_x64 exclusive problem?

Yes maybe, what version of ubuntu are u using and what graphiccard? I got a feeling that this might be som option that has to do with the graphics.

Those of you who have a nvidia card, try starting nvidia-settings before running xbmc and then exit and enter fullscreen once before starting the video. Always works here for some reason.

This thread is a year old, it's doubtful that your crash happens for the same reason, you should start your own thread.
