1080i 16:9 TV and XBMC Live - which resolution?
#1
I have 16:9 Samsung HDTV monitor (TV without tuner). It is older tube TV with component in. I just built HTPC box running XBMC Live. I am using VGA to component converter from Audio Authority. My question is, with TV that supports 480i/p and 1080i, what resolution and refresh rate should I use in XBMC? Specs for my TV do not list 720 as the compatible signal.

Currently I have it set to 1024x768 at 50Hz. I do get picture on TV but I think all US TVs are 60Hz so I am not sure I have the correct setting applied.

Thanks.

you want to run 1920x1080 @ 60 hz - the vga decoder in the tv should then take care of raping that into an interlaced signal. problem is i doubt you can do that res over vga.

Thanks for reply.

Unfortunately, the list of video modes does not have 1920x1080@60Hz. There is like 4 modes only.

What's one step lower resolution that would work with my TV? I will be fine running 480p as none of my movies are HD anyway.
