Mapping MCE remote buttons
#1
Hi everyone,

I just started using XBMC + Alaska skin + opensubtitles_OSD script. It works great and I'm ditching Windows Media Center for good after this Smile

My question is: I have a Philips SRM5100 remote that I bought for use with Windows Media Center. It works great.
On XBMC, I have to different buttons that bring up the menu ('M' on the keyboard) that allows me to press the 'subtitles' button for use with the opensubtitles_OSD script.

The question is: can I somehow map this subtitle button to one of the remote buttons and get it with only one press?

In order to bring up the menu, I have to press the "Enter" button in the remote. To close it, I have to press "Clear". Can this also be mapped to one button?

And then, since I plan on using only XBMC with this - can I replace the buttons that start Media Center and make them start XBMC instead?

EDIT: Windows 7 Smile

Thank you!

See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi..._with_XBMC and http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...MCE_Remote

I don't have a Phillips remote to test, but if it is MS compatible (and uses the same registry keys) you can map any button to any key.

I just started using a peice of software called intelle remote
http://melloware.com/download/
Its setup for xbmc you can keymap buttons. I got it so I could change my windows button on my mce remote to a launch xbmc button and a bunch of other stuff. I looked for ages tried everghost and a bunch of other programs and ended up paying for this, no regrets . hope that helps.
