was wondering if there was a plugin of some sort making xbmc able to display photo tags? like mce can, i have a rather large photo library and they're alle tagged, in hierachy aswell.

Not as yet. A patch to do so would be most welcome.

Yes, at least slideshow.xml does support tags, you have to search around the forums to find them. I modded my slideshow.xml to be a music jukebox with photo slideshow with titles and description.

Because xbmc doesn't have a photo title tag (without a .jpg extension) I had to do some offboard work with exiftool and perl to write a cleaned photo title tag to an unused one, objectname.

One other hurdle I had was that some jpegs created by photoshop caused xbmc to choke, so I do additional offboard work to strip the photoshop cruft out of the jpegs.
