Possible 7" Colour Screen Wifi Remote for £50
#1
A heads up for uk users,

There is a chance there may be a very nice 7" Colour touch screen wifi linux based remote control available for XBMC for £50

O2 have reduced the Joggler unit to £50, and it has already been hacked to run standard linux builds, this may well becone a great cheap remote control for XBMC

Specs

7" Capacitive Touch Screen
1.1ghz Atom CPU with 512Mb RAM and 1GB Storage
Wireless B/G/N Built in

Runs a locked down linux based OS, but has been cracked to run standard linux builds

Loads of info at

http://www.joggler.info

And Info on the deal at

http://shop.o2.co.uk/joggler

for £50 possibly worth a punt for modification

(It already streams divx / H264 from XBMC as standard without modification

Already have one of these on order, don't think it will be much use as a remote though as it has no battery.. so you'd be tied to the wall.

I wish we had similar device in the USA for the same price.
The normal XBMC log IS NOT a debug log, to enable debug logging you must toggle it on under XBMC Settings - System or in advancedsettings.xml. Use XBMC Debug Log Addon to retrieve it.

I take it that we lose wireless support when we do this ? So no internet right ?

Have you tried using latest XBMC build that supports VAAPI since pineview does support it ?

There is an ethernet port at back. You only loose wifi if you want to do this and not use a USB hub, there is an extra USB port so you can use that for your boot drive.

I might try a more recent build sometime soon, however I don't use it for video playback so i'm currently fine without hardware accelrated video playback.
