Couldn't find package xbmc (re: XBMC SVN) -- Why?
#1
I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) x64 using a minimal install and selecting Basic Ubuntu Server and OpenSSH tasks/groups.

I've run the following command: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
Quote:Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv A292248FCB9CFB8689A30B7A2BBD133164234534
gpg: requesting key 64234534 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key 64234534: "Launchpad PPA for XBMC SVN BUILDING" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

Then I've run sudo apt-get update
Quote:...snip...
Hit http://us.archive.ubuntu.com lucid Release.gpg
Ign http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Translation-en_US
Hit http://ppa.launchpad.net lucid Release.gpg
Ign http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/ppa/ubuntu/ lucid/main Translation-en_US
...snip...

Finally, I've tried: sudo apt-get install xbmc
Quote:Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package xbmc

What am I doing wrong? Sad

NOTE: The results from my commands are actually the results from re-running the commands so I'm not 100% sure it was the same output the first time I ran them.

If you have an AMD64 install I can send you the debs if you like. But only for the 9.11 release though.

Darn. Thanks.

I'm trying to run the latest SVN (ie. Dharma).

Will the PPA be down for long? Is my best bet compiling my own binary right now? (is there a "build-dep" command I can use to simplify getting the right dependencies for Dharma?)

yes, but that's also hosted in the same ppa. we're working as fast as we can, as always, no etas.

OK - Is there a list or anything like that I can use to manually add them? I'm hoping to get this setup by the weekend...

EDIT: ...or does anybody have a DEB for the x64 file of a somewhat recent Dharma build? (I can get the dependencies from that too, right?)

Will I be able to upgrade to the latest SVN PPA once the archive is fixed if I install these files?

there's still a problem with x86 jaunty but else than that the SVN PPA is finally filling up like it should!

https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-sv.../+packages

some additional packages still missing tho, don't get excited too early. a safe bet would be tomorrow.
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs
