My Plasma Doesn't do 24p - Options?
#1
Hi, my plasma, Panasonic PHD8, does not do 24p over VGA which is how my HTPC is connected.

I've noticed the new Sync Playback to Display options so I'm wondering what settings to use to make 24p material play smoother on my 60hz screen?-

nokmond... could you please provide the full model number of your tv. Is it one of the commercial series? If so I might be able to help you, because I used 48Hz with a 50PHD8...

Yes its the commercial model, same as yours but 42". Did you get 48hz working over VGA? I'd be delighted with some help acheiving that!

Yes, sorry. Definitely should be possibile to do 48Hz (which nicely maps to 24fps x 2). I did with mine, same generation of screen.
What videocard are you using? You need to create a custom resolution for it (1024x768 at 48 Hz).

In the end, it seems you can definitely get 24p on your screen Smile

Make it 48/1.001 hertz and turn on sync playback to display, helps with the periodic jitter.
You'll need this in advancedsettings.xml if you're going to mess with powerstrip:
Code:
<measurerefreshrate>true</measurerefreshrate>

Great!!! Really glad to have helped. Back in my 50PHD8 days I spent an inordinate amount of time in getting it right.

But those were really good monitors for their time. Find another 5 years old screen that allows you to properly watch stuff in 24p.

Also, you could even try to set it at 23.976. I managed to do it.

Hi mate, do you mean 48.001? I can only set 5 figures xx.xxx

PS - Which option in Sync playback to display? Audio clock, video clock? Cheers

By 48/1.001 I mean set it to 47.952.
Resample is the best sync method if you're not using passthrough, otherwise you can choose between drop/duple and audio clock.
You can read more about the sync settings here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Vid...s#Playback

Nice one mate. I've set my screen to 47.952 (its actually 47.958 in powerstrip, I can't seem to get it bang on).

My sound goes via Optical to my Yamaha amp so not sure if thats what you mean by passthrough?

Thanks for your help!
