hi

im using an ssd drive for windows and xbmc to take advantage of the speed to improve menus etc

to imporve speed of scrolling through libraries, fanart etc should i leave the nfos, fanart and posters in the current directories (on a second mechanical drive) or is there some way i should store them on the ssd? would this make it faster?

I believe xbmc caches your images even though they are on another drive to speed things up. and if you have DDS enabled it works even better, but I could be wrong.
