my xstocks script has a table control that could be well-suited to this.... does anyone know of a website or web location to get this information?

xml data is preferable but a web site would do. also it shouldnt use cookies or accounts to do the channel lineup (preferably all url based).

i would like to make it tie into tvtome.com for episode guides too but dont really know a good location for the channel stuff (something fast would be nice).

http://tvlistings2.zap2it.com i think this would probably be the best us tvlisting site. it could work similar to the movie guide script. on zap2it you enter in your zip code and then pick your cable/tv provider. this gives you listings suited to your particular area and television service. i hope this helps because i would be really interested in this script as well :kickass:

you can also look at http://www.titantv.com

not sure if it is xml based.

im not sure zap2it is great. i think it uses a cookie or something because i dont see any of the zip code or lineup code or anything in the url... this makes it kinda hard to use (as in i don't know how). titantv requires signing up or something.

im not saying there impossible to use... just that i dont have any idea how to use them in python and would like something where i can say everthing in the url specification or something. maybe someone more skilled than i has a clue?

zap2it already has a xml service that works with an existing xmbc python script.

select 'tv_grab_na_dd'. (na=north america). the listings are provided by zap2it.

that link...

is for the xmltv script where a first program downloads the xml listings from zap2it and processes it and then the xbox script access that from your pc. i think these guys are trying to get to the listings directly without using a pc.

if you go to labs.zap2it.com you can sign up your application to access the data directly. dont know what the requirements are.

i sent a request off to labs.zap2it.com. they seem to support "open source non-commercial" projects so im thinking xbmc qualifies. let's see where this gets us :-)

asteron,
zap2it does support open source, non-commercial use for free. the first time you use it you must sign up from a pc with your account number and password. so i think we should be able to get an account for xbmc and share it with all. this is what we do with the homeseer forum.

hjscm,
that is what this entire thread is about... tv listings. Rolleyes

this site has links to xml listings for a ton of different tv channels, sorted according to timezone:

http://ktyp.com/rss/tv/

for example, cnns guide for the pacific timezone for right now is available here:

http://ktyp.com/rss/tv/feed/pst/cnn.xml

since they're already in xml format they should be easy to work with...
