Hi there,

I just set up my htpc (a couple of times now, with different versions of xbmc and ubuntu) and I have the problem that I can watch one hd-movie per boot...

With Ubuntu 10.10 the first movie played and every hd-title I tried the, was black in the background without sound. My other movies did play back very well.

With Ubuntu 10.04 xbmc crashed after the second (or sometimes third) try to play a 1080-title.

After a restart of xbmc I was able to play another hd movie.

I think that that has something to do with VPAU, the log says this:

19:02:19 T:140337887225600 M:3040804864 ERROR: (VDPAU) Error: The system does not have enough resources to complete the requested operation at this time.(23) at VDPAU.cpp:905

At the moment I'm running Dharma on Ubuntu 10.04.

Do you have an onboard GPU? How much memory do you have assigned to it?

Did you try a live cd/usb? f not, try that.

Like Gryph suggested, have you verified that you have given the GFX at least 512MB ram?

Hey,

thank you guys. After setting the iGPU frame buffer to 512MB I can't recreate this strange behaviour. I started and stopped several hd movies withoud crashing anymore.

For people with the same problem: You can find this in the BIOS settings under south bridge (at least on my board)
