XBMC Menu Animation Smoothness in Linux vs Windows
#1
My system is set up to dual-boot into Linux Mint 10 or Windows 7. I have been using XBMC 10 on my system under Linux, and it has been working very well. I decided to try XBMC under Windows 7 and noticed immediately that the menu animation feels much smoother in Windows than it does in Linux. Has anyone come across this and know of a way that I can get the menu animations as smooth in Linux as it is in Windows?

I've always had the opposite. Is compiz enabled?

I disabled it by unchecking the "Enable integration into the desktop environment" box under Preferences, but it's still not smooth like Windows.

I did notice however that XBMC seems to think my resolution is 1920x1080 @ 50 Hz, when it should actually be 60 Hz.

Edit: I just changed the compiz Visual Effects to none, and now it's as smooth as butter. Smile

That's because the nvidia driver reports it as that when dynamic twinview is enabled, it doesn't impact performance.
