This is probably a dumb question, but how does one go about updating to any newer versions of xbmc for apple tv 2G? Eventually a newer version must come out, so how do I get the latest when it does?

Bomans Wrote:Or you could use the update feature in atvflash.
nikiiv Wrote:On ATV2? I don't think so
melagodo Wrote:how do we know when new rls are out? (I'm not using atvflash, don't want to pay for something I can do for free )

Bomans Wrote:Yeah, why not.
atvflash works on atv2:

a) check the forum. If someone is talking about an update then i usually assume there is a new release
b) every day putty (or other method of ssh) into the device..
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
if it says there is an upgrade from XBMC then i type yes
Swwethip1 Wrote:is there any update already? I put that into putty and it did load some stuff saying this "update would take a certain amount of size, would you like to continue, y\n"
hit no, because not sure what this was. did anyone else get a update?

I cant seem to find where to do it via the menu system. Anyone got a dummies guide on how to do this....
