I have tried to updated my atv 2 but it keeps failing via nito, I know I need to ssh into the atv 2 what command do I use for this

Update Instructions:
AppleTV2: Connect via SSH in and run “apt-get update && apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2′”

i can't seem to update through nito tv - and im getting an error when i try to do it via putty:

"E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (2: no such file or directory)

E: Unable to lock the list directory."

any ideas? im not really all that good with ssh (in fact, not since i unlocked my original iphone years ago have i touched it) - so please be gentle

Click on putty and choose run
In the first window that opens up type the ATV's IP address and then click on open.
A command window will open and type in each of the following followed by hitting the enter key each time:

root
alpine
apt-get update
apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2
