Now that I got everything to work, I'm running into a problem with the Avatar BluRay. It has every 2-5s a slight judder. Every other BluRay or videofile is playing extremly smooth (running on 24fps). I asume it's because of how makeMKV handles the BD protection. The load on one core is much higher at Avater (50%) than for example Transformers (8-10%).
Is anybody else having problems with Avatar?
Will the forthcoming release of XBMC included everything to play Blu-Ray, or do we still need to do a little modifying? I think I've reinstalled XBMC about a 100 times! LoL. Wish there was a Backup Feature (a feature I'm not aware of) like on Android.

No, but according to the trac page you will be able to define an external player for blu-ray playback right in playercorefactory.xml. I'm not sure how that would work with MakeMKV, but I'm sure somebody smarter than me will figure it out.
adave Wrote:@fxrider. Please see this post. You have to update the allcombo.svq file for MakeMKV due to the new BD+ protection.

Hey adave, without the allcombo.svq file it wouldn't even play the disc.
The problem is not playing the disc, it's an anoying judder...
Can anyone confirm smooth 24p playback of a Avatar BD under XBMC 9.11?
For some reason I can not get the plugin v1a play disc working. The script version works great. I can use the browse files on disc using the plugin version, but when I click on play nothing happens and no errors in log. Is the plugin version looking for a valid makemkvcon key?
I have downloaded and installed the plugin again and still no joy. I also checked persmissions. Just do not know why nothing happens when I select play.

The
roadmap also says that there will be:
Quote:- Added support for unencrypted Blu-ray Disc playback (via libbluray and libbdnav) without menus
Which, while very interesting, doesn't help that much as all commercial blurays are encrypted, so there will still be a need for makemkv and this script, but it's a step in the right direction!
Will this plugin gets ported to the new addons system?

As I read it there will not be a need for the script, as you'll be able to tell XBMC to use makemkv to open the blu-ray disc. Maybe I'm reading "define an external player" wrong.
^ This would be pretty awesome! Can any dev confirm?
Hello,
I've ported the Plugin to the new XBMC Addon System. Credit goes to original Author. I've tested it successfully with avatar and ACDC Live at Donington.

hi djselbeck!
thx for the addon!
just played some minutes of one of the very few blurays I have - and it worked fine
for a future version of the addon I'd like to suggest that the "0" in default.py line 92 can be configured
(my blueray rom is 2 here).
thanks a lot!
hi there!
woohoo, you're damn fast!
Excellent work - works like a charm!
Also a good decision to zip the addon
thank you very much!

This shell scripts comes in the next days to my ripper
Testers are welcome ...
With the addon it is possible to watch
with my script to transcode and save to disk

PS : If you are searching for debian files for makemkv they are packed inside the blueray-functions-shell functions.
