RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - justin150 - 2023-03-14

One further thought for my issue with showing set years

This may be something that can be handled by Embuary Info - again I just cannot see how. I used to use Skin Helper Service which did work but not sure that is still being maintained.

[edit] tried using Skin Helper and that does not work either, although it may be because it does not work with containers - and of course widgets are in containers but I did think that window(home).Property(SkinHelper.ListItem.Year) was the instruction to get around that problem

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - brazen1 - 2023-03-16

TV Shows - Next Aired works when I switch to Estuary but not Aeon Nox Silvo.  Anyone else using Nexus or v21 noticed this?

That is great. Maybe you could submit a PR to include the setting in the skin. Prefer animated poster, but fall back to plain poster if it does not exist.
The author of the skin is not as active as he used to be.... https://github.com/mikesilvo164/Aeon-Nox-SiLVO
so I updated the skin and I had to do this animated poster implementation again so would be nice to have it integrated in the skin so how and where can I submit the PR? and what is actually a PR?

I've requested this a few times throughout the years also.  With a large collection of animatedposters.apng's and animatedposter.gif's (1000+ TV shows and movies including set posters for them), it's a nightmare manually replacing them one by one for the poster.jpg's.

A PR is a Pull Request on GitHub.  This means you submit your feature for @mikeSiLVO, the author of this skin, to consider adding.  https://github.com/mikesilvo164/Aeon-Nox-SiLVO/pulls
Because you know how to add the feature, you can submit it there and perhaps he will.

In the meantime, it would be VERY much appreciated if you would share in detail exactly what you modified here since others could benefit, especially in the event the PR takes a long time to implement or not at all.  (given you do not submit a PR)

ah of course PR is pull request. I didn't automatically relate it to git I thought it is kodi forum thing. It is highly unlikely that I submit a PR there and I am happy to share here maybe someone has better idea how to implement. i am not sure if it is allowed to share code here because it can be large and messy.

DISCLAMER:
these are guides step by step and will require manual work
this only works for Aeon NOX SiLVO
once you update the skin from official rep, your edits most likely will be gone and you will need to re-do everything again
code is tested. no error or warnings found in kodi log or diagnostics related to these modifications, still use on your own risk

to admins
if posting this broke the rules in anyway, please don't ban me Big Grin

so i just paste it here this is for animated posters (supports one animated poster per movie)
https://paste.kodi.tv/osuhagalev.kodi

this is for character poster (supports single character poster for each actor unlike in other skins that can support multiple character posters for the same actor in case they play several characters in the same movie)

some pictures for the skin after implementation (could never get the pictures to preview mode in this post)

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - brazen1 - 2023-03-18

Hmmmm?  I see it works for you but doesn't for me.  I did the animated poster edits only.  I see the Animated posters setting and it is enabled.  I added a title with a .gif.  It only shows the scraped static poster.jpg.  As usual, I can manually enable the .gif but it didn't add automatically and supersede the poster.jpg for some reason.  Your instructions are very well laid out and I don't see how I could have done anything wrong but thank you very much.

sorry it didn't work for you. it took me some trial(s) and error(s).  share your code if you like. did it give any errors in kodi log. could be something small like comma here or parenthesis there.

if no errors, then it seems that the code works, but maybe other factors are contradicting with its operation.
worth mention that I applied these edits to Aeon Nox SiLVO v9.0.0 . if you have older version, maybe there is something different.

notice that it automatically adds the animatedposter.gif for new items that were added to your library after you implement the code and giving that the animated poster is already in the movie folder before you scrap the movie to the library.

for the movies that already in the library, unfortunately, after implementing the code you have to go to each movie info and chose the animated poster art.

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - nordicguy - 2023-03-19

hey guys

I managed to implement this Movie Director Thumb addon support / feature in Aeon Nox SiLVO: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=342720
I share it in the forum for anyone who likes to add it

DISCLAMER:
this is guide step by step and will require manual work
this only works for Aeon NOX SiLVO
once you update the skin from official rep, your edits most likely will be gone and you will need to re-do everything again
code is tested. no error or warnings found in kodi log or diagnostics related to this modification, still use on your own risk

LIMITATIONS:
"these are skin limitations or things I haven't figure out how to go around them"
1- due to the fact that the skin allows only 2 views (list view and Icon view) for Directors submenu, then not possible to show dorectors thumb in poster view or showcase view etc.
2- the only view that show the movies directors thumbs is Icon view.
3- since the Icon view is square and the photos from the addon are rectangle, then some of the photos appear cropped from the top and bottom
4- although the list view is available for Directors submenu, it is not possible for it to show the thumbs since it shows only text which is the director name and next to it is a list of the movies for that director.
5- you have to have a dummy picture in the folder mentioned below, otherwise if you missing pictures then they will appear just black square
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\resource.images.moviedirectorthumbs\resources\

HOPE:
the above limitations can be fixed by one of two things: implementing this addon support in the skin officially or allow more views in the director submenu that can better display the photos in this addon such as poster, my flix, etc.

here is the guide:

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - brazen1 - 2023-03-19

(2023-03-19, 00:04)nordicguy Wrote: share your code if you like.

What I tried was removing 2 titles from the library.  One using a .gif and one that never had a .gif.
Once removed from the source, I restarted Kodi again.  I checked to make sure the titles were no longer present in the Kodi library and they weren't.  Then quit Kodi.
Added the titles back to their original source and added a .gif to the title that never had one.  I also removed the existing poster.jpg's.
Next, I restarted Kodi and the two titles scanned back in as if they were newly added.  They appeared in the 'recently added' library.  So, Kodi thinks they are new titles but for some reason didn't apply the .gifs by default - just the newly scraped static posters since the originals were deleted.

Maybe you can see something I did wrong in the codes and thank you for offering to take a look in the event I screwed something up.

Also, I see no errors in the log.

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - nordicguy - 2023-03-19

@brazen1

the two first files cannot be wrong they basically show you the text so it's up to you to write whatever you want Big Grin

it seems you have done everything correctly not exactly how it looks in my files though...

here is what you can try:
1- do you see the button in the menu? can you toggle it? sometimes I implement these buttons for features and I forget to turn it on when testing  Laugh
so make sure the button is on

2- my animated posters are named like so "<moviename>-animatedposter.gif" but also I think kodi would accept "animatedposter.gif".
you just have to make the same style as the rest of the artwork and not mix two styles
I noticed yours is named poster.gif so maybe try rename it animatedposter.gif instead

3- not entirely sure if they make difference in xml (probably not), but anyway, try to make sure that the child item is correctly indented underneath the parent item

example  "hope it appears here correctly"

<!-- parent item start -->
<variable>

        <!-- child item -->
        <value></value>

<!-- parent item end -->
</variable>

or (for the sake of completeness)

<!-- parent item start -->
<variable>

        <!-- child item start -->
        <value>

       <!-- child item end -->
        </value>

<!-- parent item end -->
</variable>

4- could be a layering thing, so try to put the "animatedposter" value code before the "poster" value code in each view

for example in "<variable name="PosterThumb">":

this is mine:
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(animatedposter)) + Skin.HasSetting(animatedposters)">$INFO[ListItem.Art(animatedposter)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(poster))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(poster)]</value>
<value>$INFO[ListItem.Icon]</value>

this is yours:
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(poster))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(animatedposter)) + Skin.HasSetting(animatedposters)">$INFO[ListItem.Art(animatedposter)]</value>
<value>$INFO[ListItem.Icon]</value>

it isn't necessary to restart kodi or your computer, F5 while in kodi should refresh the skin. you can verify that from the log. it will say that the skin is refreshed.

I think those with " #~ " in front of them, messages that aren't in use. but you can check if text appears at the bottom when you hover over the button. mine are without the "#~".

hope this helps

I already toggled it off/on yesterday.

All of mine are named moviename.year.gif.  Avatar.2009.gif.  None of them are named poster.gif.
All of my poster.jpg's are named poster.jpg though as is other artwork like clearlogo.png.

I wish .gif would be the only important part.  I did rename Avatar.2009.gif to Avatar.2009-animatedposter.gif and simply animatedposter.gif but still didn't supersede poster.jpg.  (poster.jpg was removed from the title folder but when the title got re-scraped, it added it again.

(2023-03-19, 19:52)nordicguy Wrote: 4- could be a layering thing, so try to put the "animatedposter" value code before the "poster" value code in each view

I moved it on top of instead of under all instances of "$INFO[ListItem.Art(poster)]" as your example shows.  No difference.

With or without them, no text appears although text does appear at the bottom for all other items giving a description for each setting.  I assume by "the button" you mean the Animated posters on/off setting in SilVo Extras.

Hey, thank you for trying to help me.  It's progress knowing it works for you.  There must be something on my end incompatible like perhaps my scraping automation and subsequent Artwork Dump download.  Perhaps a cache entry remaining because I'm removing a title, making some changes, and adding it back right away.  That was just for a little test.

I'm going to leave everything and next time I add a new title, I'll put a dummy.gif in it and see what happens.  My main interest is the next time I rebuild Kodi from scratch, when all of my collection gets added, will all the .gif's supersede all the poster.jpg's and automatically be applied saving me countless hours manually applying them.  I'll be sure to add your code before I do...

Thank you for your contributions and detailed explanations.

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - nordicguy - 2023-03-19

yea no problem. just a quick thing about the message. yes it is the "the button" you mean the Animated posters on/off setting in SilVo Extras.
and I noticed you haven't implemented one line that shows this message I thought it was intentional which is this line. suppose to be in "variables.xml" file

<value condition="Control.HasFocus(5016)">$LOCALIZE[31997]</value>

for reference:

I am using kodi nexus v20.1

and I share with you both files, note that I have other things implemented so you can just copy the parts you need to test and probably just don't replace your files, but of course you know that Smile

here is the SkinSettings.xml
https://paste.kodi.tv/mekedutuyu.kodi

and here is the Variables.xml
https://paste.kodi.tv/wemutuqune.kodi

sorry it didn't help but it is fun to troubleshoot  Wink

I've saved the images in the internal flash memory of my Nvidia Shield.

PS: This behavior is only happening since upgrading the skin to the newest version in the repository. It has even resetted my menu configurations.
@djhifi  I'd like to share that I too ran into this, but with the latest update it sees the images again.

Thank you for your contributions and detailed explanations.

xml:
$INFO[ListItem.Art(animatedposter)]
Requires Skin Helper Service installed and enabled. Also IIRC your preferred view is MyFlix which uses a different variable to populate its posters.

xml:

<variable name="PosterThumbVar">
<value condition="Container.Content(genres) + !Skin.HasSetting(coloredflags)">$INFO[ListItem.Label,special://skin/extras/moviegenres/default/,.jpg]</value>
<value condition="Container.Content(genres) + Skin.HasSetting(coloredflags)">$INFO[ListItem.Label,special://skin/extras/moviegenres/colored/,.jpg]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(season.poster))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(season.poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(Container.ListItem.Art(season.poster))">$INFO[Container.ListItem.Art(season.poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(Container.ListItem.Art(poster))">$INFO[Container.ListItem.Art(poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(tvshow.poster))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(tvshow.poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(poster))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(Container.ListItem.Art(tvshow.poster))">$INFO[Container.ListItem.Art(tvshow.poster)]</value>
<value condition="!String.IsEmpty(ListItem.Art(thumb))">$INFO[ListItem.Art(thumb)]</value>
<value>$INFO[ListItem.Icon]</value>
</variable>
When adding variables, whichever <value> is the first one to match the condition or lack thereof is the one that is used. So things need to go in a particular order if you want something to supersede another.

Basically the first two lines are saying if in the genres container and the skin has coloredflags setting enabled or not use this value. That is then followed by if a season poster exists use $INFO[ListItem.Art(season.poster)] etc...

I don't like adding things to the skin using scripts/addons that are not in the Kodi repo and Skin Helper Service updates are not being pushed there Undecided

RE: Aeon Nox: SiLVO - Wagg - 2023-03-21

Do the newest Kodi builds (>20) support Atmos and DTS-X tags? I notice that while there are now HDR10/DV tags with Silvo there are still only TrueHD and DTS-HD tags for Atmos and DTS-X. Also, is there a HDR10+ tag?
