100-133" screen size for your seating distance. Great value + performance 3D PJ's are BenQ's ... W1070, W1075 or HT2050. Epson 3LCD's are also worth looking at, like 2040.

Can anyone give advice about where to start looking for something that I could link to pi3 and play 3d mvc movies? What's good and what kind of screen size could I look for realistically and keep a quality picture? II have about 14 foot from sofa to wall. Probably around £500 to play with - am I dreaming or is there something out there to look at!!'
Thanks all

Cheers. Wall is a yellowish cream (magnolia type) so not sure i'd get away with it

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look! Big step up from my 48 inch tv! I find the tv is fine for appreciating 'immersive depth' - avatar, hobbit, sammy's look amazing. But do find there is too much distraction on the peripheries to really get pop out forward. When paused I can really see the pop that's intended (e.g. The coin toss in drive angry).

...sammy's is the exception - think that turtle would float though the sky in my lounge on any size tv!

Painting is a possibility... there's a guy on AVSForum that goes by the name MississippiMan who's an expert on this, in the DIY screens section.

Ht2050 and I would go 150 if you can get away with it. I have 175 and sit about 15 feet away.

Not as big as you think. But it's nice. Previously 135 13 feet away limited by wall size.

Just back online after latest movie night :-)
Genuinely curious....is picture quality sacrificed at all with such a size over that distance? Does it introduce some artefactong etc? Or I suppose it also depends on the quality of the projector!

RE: Kodi Media Player Options with MVC/frame-packed 3D & HD Audio - robl45 - 2016-10-22

All subjective I guess. I recently upgraded to a 1080p projector. Previously 720p projector. Honestly I can't really tell a difference.

Yes, you answered your own question. Even with Epson 5040UB, the new eShift 4K PJ I'm considering, I was being told @ AVSForum that 150" (scope screen however) was too big. Seating distance makes a difference for sure, as does PQ, as does screen. If I get this PJ, I'll likely experiment on a white wall, then only decide on screen size, as well as scope vs. 16:9.

With both hands open and in vertical position, in the Left & Right side of your face/eyes (like if you grabbing your head) you should see the entire screen/image.

With the hands in that position if your are unable to watch all the screen/image you are too close to the screen.

I've been on AVSForum for years. Many of the people are a little too stuffy if you ask me. Its only too big if you think its too big.
