a nuc or perhaps only a motherboard + intel processor?

If you more like a media player type a NUC, Gigabyte Brix, MSI Cubi etc.. more preferable.
I would suggest that you look into Intel 4th Gen and UP

How much?

The only issue I am having with DN2820 is lip-synced issue with 3D playback, besides that everything else is fine.

With @afedchin March 25 build a quick FF does resolve the sync issue.

75 euro
thats cheap :p
i hate lyp sync though, so fast forward fixes it?
but only on march 25 build?

Any words if this 3d mvc support will come to main branch

Any words if this 3d mvc support will come to main branch I don't know, that is a question @afedchin can answer.

75 Euro is a pretty a good deal for all those parts.

RE: Intel-specific HTPC/NUC Selection w/reliable MVC 3D ISO - Skank - 2016-04-04

about the lip sync, this is only with 3d iso?
Even when that same 3d iso is played in 2d you have lip sync issues?
Is it noticaeble or not that harD?

Yeah its a good deal, but if i bother it... its lost money

Even when that same 3d iso is played in 2d you have lip sync issues? There is not Lip-sync in 2D once you disable 3D Stream under video setting.
Is it noticaeble or not that harD? Yes with 3D.ISO playback

Yeah its a good deal, but if I bother it... its lost money

That's odd. I always want lip sync. It's when stuff is out of lip sync I'm annoyed... Grrr... <Bangs head at wrong terminology being used>

When stuff is "lip-synced" or "in lip sync" or "has lip sync" it is perfect. When it "has lip sync errors", "is not lip-synced", or "is out of sync", things are wrong.

There appears to be a creeping use of 'lip sync' to mean 'lip sync errors'.

Are they better than an intel nuc dn2820fykh + 4gb ddr3l 4gb 1600mhz or pretty much the same?

Lip sync error... Smile

For budget options other than NUC DN2820FYKH:
  • Just tried Beelink BT3 (Atom X5-Z8300) ($132), a review sample from Everbuying, and it works surprisingly well. No HD audio bitstreaming, but full 7.1 multichannel output like RPi. I did have driver headaches w/BT3, but got them resolved. Will write a quick review later this week.
  • Testing out Dell 3050 (Celeron J1800) (about $125 used off eBay) later today. This one should do HD audio bitstreaming.

Check the channel mapping for 7.1. The surrounds and rear surrounds may be switched.

Both devices in the link are not good, they do not support DTS-HD And Dolby TrueHD.
