And if you dont use windows or Linux with desktops and dont have a keyboard hooked up, now you also need to explain to a user how to set his remote up for a simple debug task

Yep I can see it being an issue where there was no desktop, so +1 on the PR you've created.

Its still less than ideal mapping, but hopefully someone will suggest a better button.

There should be no default remote mapping for taking a screenshot. There is not a single device out there that has such a mapping thus XBMC shouldn't have one either. If someone needs a screenshot to debug something he can just hook up a keyboard temporarily. No newbie would ever even expect there to be a remote button for grabbing a screenshot so he would still assume he'd need a keyboard.
