It would be nice to list a number of things we would like to see implemented in the next release of Kodi.
Here are mine:
1) Dynamic Tone mapping: this is something that is already being done by other players and someone is implementing DSPlayer into a fork of Kodi to exactly do that so it should be possible to have it in the main Kodi branch
2) Possibly to lock outputs: audio and monitor cannot be selected and locked. Kodi will always activate another output if the selected one is not available. I have created a batch file to launch kodi which will overwrite the guisettings.xml file, but would love to be able to simply select the output of my choice and forget about it if I chose to do so.

Thank you. I have tried it in the past but has not worked. It simply hid the selection bars and still would allow for Kodi to switch to a different output. It would be interesting to have a "lock selection" feature directly in the GUI.
I am using the audio profile add-on, which mitigates in part the issue and now have set-up openhab to turno on the preamp rpior to switching on the PC so to avoid that Kodi is launched prior to the preamp. There are solutions (including running a batch file to overun Kodi's settings, but a simple lock in the GUI could make things much easier especially for those less expert. Simplification and user friendliness are keys for this great piece of software to become more mainstream and find new enthusiasts ready to invest time in the development. I am sure that an integrated tone mapping, for istance, would see a great number of new adopters especially those with VPJs like myself.

In the current Kodi interface you might only delete a video file or song if you remove the kodi db entry for the item first.
As a new easy functionality I would like that "Manage..." included the choice to delete the physical video file without removing the related entry from kodi db.
Even better if the file deleted would be replaced automatically by a media stub that the user may fill it with whatever reason the movie was deleted.

Improve video file tagging for mkv files and support added the artworks as attachments. This would reduced the files in the directory, the solution now is a workaround and unhandy.

Individual episode tagging to enable highly specialized playlists. Tagging an episode as 'Christmas Special' or 'Crossover' or 'Filler' and things like that, so I can then use those tags to build smart playlists for very specific content.

Just as an FYI for folks posting here in this thread, these feature requests are likely to get lost in the noise of the thread. I'm not saying they'll be ignored, but if you feel strongly about a feature request, I would suggest doing a search of this sub-forum to see if someone already asked about it and then add your voice there or start a new thread. It's hard for the team to sift through a thread that is basically just random entries of things people want.

I agree, however if we see several people mentioning the same thinh here, maybe we could send a direct feature request to Kodi pointing them to this thread to prove it is a really wanted feature.
There are many Kodi users that are using external players to integrate madVr for example and do not understand why this could not become a feature. Better still would be to have dynamic tone mapping directly implemented in Kodi.
External players play ISO files without menu, but can have madVr integration. Kodi player can handle magnificently ISO with menus, but doesn't offer the possibility to implement tone mapping. It would be nice for once to have all in one place.

Database handling for multiple external devices. I mean if i choose a video from the database and is the device not connected where the video is stored a pop up shows me which device i must connect.
