Apologies if it seems like I keep finding issues, your skin is the best I’ve used. There really isn’t anything that is comparable in terms of design.
But I’m very picky, so anything I find I’ll post on here if you’re ok with that.
I appreciate that you’re doing this for free and will have other priorities but keep up the good work
I'm just glad you're using the features,. Thanks for the feedback
Hi this is more of a request than a bug, but in the topic of trailers I’ve noticed that there is no osd for the video player.
So this means that we can’t pause, rewind etc when a trailer plays. All I can do is go back to the previous screen.
Is this by design? Would it be difficult to add that as a feature?
hi @
Aduwork, it's sort of a restriction of how trailer autoplay works in that it's similar to Netflix (and other skins) where the list is still there and still has the focus. It's just playing the trailer in a background window, but then I've chosen to hide the list of movies/tvshows during playback. Originally I had it so it was just playing in the background and nothing was hidden, but I found it pretty distracting. The other thing is Netflix curates the trailers (usually clips) to ensure it fits properly in the space they have, but in the wild, a lot of trailers have green intro screens and black bars etc, so it looked a bit crap in my mind until I made it fullscreen with everything else hidden.
When a list item is playing a trailer, left/right navigates the list and up/down stops playback without changing the focused item. (if you're in a vertical scrolling view, e.g. list, those directions are flipped). Potentially I could experiment with having something like up to stop and down to pause/play.
If you have buttons on your control for pause and rewind, these should work, but I think there might be some strange results that I never got around to looking into.
The other thing that can be done is that on autoplay, it forced playback in the actual videoplayer window instead of in the background of the current window you're in. That way you will get full osd, but the limitation is after you exit playback, you'll have to navigate back to where you were.
Out of interest, do you use trailer autoplay in your videos window (movies/tvshows) or in widgets? I find it pretty distracting if I want to go into my library, but I like using it on some widgets. There's a widget view called Grid spotlight where the thumbnails are small and stay present at the bottom of the screen for more of a Netflix experience and you can also enable an option called autoscroll which will basically move to the next item and play the trailer after one is finished. It was inspired by the Netflix view after you finish watching something where it plays trailers from other things on auto. I like combining this view with something like TMDBHelper addon so I can get a list of new trending movies and autolay trailers for things coming out soon (Currently Alien Romulus, Trap etc).
Edit to add: If you've seen a better implementation in another skin or have ideas of how this can be improved, I'd love to hear them, thanks!
