Although i have just upgraded to eden, i had this problem recently using dharma, and that is whenever i go into my movie library, i get the assertion failed error, i have no idea what this is about, i normailly tell it to ignore it, but would like to get rid of it permanatley!
Has anyone got any ideas at this stage?
Thanks

I would guess the thumbnail generating thread is crashing trying to generate a thumbnail from M:\Movies\The Lion of Judah (2011) 720p BRRip x264-Anarchy.mp4. Try temporarily removing this file and see if the assert goes away.

Any idea what the fix is? I have similar errors, log shows several movies with same problem... What do I have to do to get XBMC working w/ the error-prone movies

files with errors/corruption should be deleted... the debug logs should give you a hint at which file it is. Sometimes bad files come from failing drives, but most are bad downloads, either corrupted in transit or compression.

I am having the same problem with some movies. Does this error mean that the movie is corrupted and needs to be ripped again? (I ripped these from DVD or Blu-ray to mkv files.) Movies play correctly with VLC (so they don’t appear corrupted), but XBMC will not play the movie.
Additionally, I will get the same error with any movie I play (as long as the offending movie is still in the folder), but XBMC will play the other movies and I do not get the error until I exit the movie being played.
I have this problem with several movies, but once they are removed the error goes away. I am currently out of town, so cannot rip the movies again to test. FYI – I ripped the movies using AnyDVD and Handbrake.
Thanks for your help

Can you re-upload xbmc.log with debugging turned on? (
Settings/System/Debugging (wiki) -> Enable debug logging)

i'm getting the same error when just browsing through my movie library...i get the error almost immediately (at the very worst, in the first 30 seconds)....abort will terminate xbmc
retry will cause xbmc to crash
and ignore will have the error pop up again in about 30 seconds
there seems to be a pattern here...that we're all getting this error
i'm using xbmc on win 7 64 bit
i'll try to post a debug log a little later
edit: well, i took at look at the debug log...an anarchy movie backup as well!
so it really looks like this group's movies are causing this assertion error in xbmc...i'll report if i get the crash without the problematic film...
