After installing the Realtek high definition audio driver ver:R2.62 it looks like this
still no luck. but now that i have installed this when i go to xbmc and then system i cant see WASAP: Digitatal Audio (S/PDIF) (Realtek High Definition) before i installed the Realtek high definition audio driver ver:R2.62 if i went to xbmc i could see WASAP: Digitatal Audio (S/PDIF)
Hi Dougie on my receiver i don't have hdmi socket it's an old av receiver but works. At the moment i have everything installed in my motherboard just like how beer has his in his video. Just usb 2 wire plugged from the case to motherboard and didn't plug anything else from the case to motherboard

On your AVR, did you switch the input back to you the optical input instead of the HDMI input?
