I don't remember what my original thought was but it was probably to not interfere with what Mr. V did with the widgets and I should probably re-design the Vertical to be more consistent with the Horizontal Menu.
Not 100% sure how to do that but my thinking right now is to have the now playing widget in the center and Widget 1 be on top while Widget 2 on the bottom. I have not changed my setup in awhile. I am going by memory here but I think Widget 1 is always above the menu while Widget 2 is either below or above where Widget 1 would be depending on whether the main menu is centered or not.
I can and usually do add/adjust things if someone makes a good case for it or I did not think anyone was currently using it and they complain but it has to make sense. The Vertical Menu "fixed" option working the way it did previously not only does it not make sense but in no way does it match the Horizontal.
Anyhoo, I am open to suggestions and requests but I will not add anything unless it make sense to me.
Feel free to try and convince me though
Don't worry, I understood where you were coming from with the "ugly". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc.
It's true that the new "Default" is more consistent with the horizontal view; I'll give you that.
I'm not sure what you mean about the widgets. That might of been for someone else's benefit. I don't have any complaints about the widgets.
As for convincing you of the benefits of a finite vs loop main menu (known as Fixed on/off in other views) then I can only reiterate that a finite (non-looped) list makes it easier to know where you are in the overall list. eg. I'm at the top of the list because there is nothing above the focus. I'm at the bottom of the list because there is nothing below the focus. A loop negates this effect and I have to pay more attention as I scroll because I don't know at glance where in the list I am.
This is a minor, minor problem but in my perception a downgrade from what we already had. From this point of view I expect you understand. As a user, asking for an improvement is one thing but a downgrade is subtly different. Something has been taken from me (oh the drama! ).
Anyhoo, I'm not too phased. Just as long as I tried to be heard and you understand where I'm coming from, the ball is in your court and I will respect whatever you decide. It's no big deal.
P.S.
I think my interest in the skin has reached a point where I think I should start modding it myself. I expect there is a lot to learn so I just have to see if I can afford the time investment and how it will impact my other commitments. Watch this space! I might be pestering you for coding tips in the future.
