Always use the trunk for translation, there are numerous strings there that may not yet be in other branches:

Also, I recently commit a change to the 'ignore "the" when sorting option'.

The tokens are now configurable per language. see the english langinfo.xml. i'd imagine germans wants 'der,die,das' etc.

Please not: this means that there's no 'the' unless its set in the langinfo xml.

There are also advancedsettings for additionals for users.
