yes, if you are not interested in official streaming services, you can use raspberrypi3 with libreelec . cheap and works very well with 1080i tv channels. i got both Firestick4k for official sreaming platforms, Rpi3 for mediaportal tv.

I use a Windows Media Center remote received on my RPi, and use a Logitech Harmony remote, although the Windows MCE remotes work well.
