Upgraded the firmware today to 1.72, using Escalades community version of Libreelec and all is working good for me.

Restartet the system, new Version is there, but only Stereo Sound.
Try to go back to 1.66
Can't find any download. Can someone please offer me Version 1.66?

Quote:INTEL HBR AUDIOhttps://libreelec.tv/2017/10/libreelec-k...0-release/
Initial patches to resolve the lack of pass-through HBR audio on NUC devices and similar with an internal DP > HDMI convertor were published recently. Testing has shown good results on Linux 4.13+ kernels but issues are seen with older Intel/NUC hardware using the 4.11 kernel used in LibreELEC 8.2. As a result these patches are not suitable for the 8.2.0 release and this minor issue will be resolved with LibreELEC 9.0 in the future.

Some users reported no audio with 8.2 and the HBR patch.
Reliable but non-HBR audio (you can still use LPCM) for everyone is better than some users being left with no audio at all and thus truly unusable systems.

Are customs builds *with* HBR patch available somewhere?

I tried with Linux :-) all fine. Hehe.

I got the firmware update tool for 1.72 from here
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloa...duct=95069
It's a windows tool.
I run linux/single-boot on my J4205 htpc - Fedora 26. - 4.13.10-200.fc26.x86_64. With an AVR X2300W.
Do you need to flash this new firmware using the tool by booting windows from USB (hopefully not!), or does the kernel load the binary as a blob? If the latter which .bin did you use and how did you replace the old one in your system?
