(2015-06-18, 01:32)kizzer31 Wrote: https://github.com/mikesilvo164/Aeon-Nox-SiLVO

Would this be it and do i just download zip extract it and replace the current folders with this one if you know what i mean,,,sorry to sound stupid

That is it!
I always recommend opening it up in WinRAR and changing the folder name to be skin.aeon.nox.silvo and using the addon managers install from zip option. You can also replace all of the files either way will work Nod

Not at this time in my opinion but nothing says that it always will be.

Let's say that this skin is still young and he deserve to flesh out a little Wink

To return to the original purpose of this topic, I would like to propose some improvements:
- Offer a simple way to add fanart to skin on the principle of fanart pack for the weather.
If you check an option, the skin will look in the background directory, a folder or an image with a preset name (eg ".kodi/addons/skin.aeon.nox.silvo/background/music/" for the fanart music menu)

I found it rather long to navigate the subfolders to configure each menu. There it would be enough to put his pack (personally I like the pictures of shednox) and check the option. It would not change the ideology of the skin (see FAQ), since we must always modify it by yourself, but that would really simplify life.

- Extend fanart option "dvd dynamic case," in the main menu to display random movies and not just the recent movies.

- add a view that emphasizes the banners for the tv shows. Currently there are only 2 and they are almost identical but lack clarity and detail.

Bannerwall displays banners over 2/3 of the screen but as a result, completely hides the fanart. There was of course, a plot, genre and title but nothing else.
No logo of the series, no mpaa, no studio logo ...
Bannerinfo, it's the same except I see only 5 tv shows at a time.

Shednox on this point (bannerplex view) was really something good in the sense that only the lower half of the image was occupied by the banners (3x3) and logos (Tv Show, mpaa, studio, etc.) while the upper part was intended general information (date, notes, synopsis, recall of fanart, poster and other artworks). The most interesting is that we could delay the onset of the upper part which made the display simpler and brighter.

I do not demand a copy of course but regain some point as a sort of lowlist of banners, and more information/logo, especially for mpaa logo.

What do you think of this?

So there's lots from the older skin not included in a new skin?

What's the difference in all these skins anyways? Just more or less features?

I would like you add an option to not have to select each menu, then choose which configuration (one or multiple...) then navigate though all directories to select folder/file then validate and go to next menu... but just activate an option and then, SILVO will automatically display fanart in a preselected directory.
If i have a music.jpg, it use simple fanart for music menu. If i have music/a.jpg and music/b.jpg then it use multiple fanarts for music menu.

For the bannerplex view, i thought you don't want to add this in SILVO. It's cool that you add this view. It will be hard to wait for the first stable version of Isengard now ^^.

for the "dvd dynamic case", you have not respond.

Unless I'm not understanding you correctly you want me to have default image locations in the skin? Due to the fact you can select any folder you want that may be a lot of extra coding for not much gain. I don't think a little bit of set up time when you first set up the skin is too time-consuming in the grand scheme of things... Basically I'm not sure if I will add that or focus on it in the near future.

Regarding the DVD case question, I missed it because I am responding using my phone and sometimes it can be hard to see a question and it also takes a while to type a response. I will take a look at that soon and get back to post about in this thread when I have started or finished it. If I forget just remind me Wink

Oh, come on, your old skin is fine. A new skin is a new skin with new features -- sometimes it builds on the past version; other times it does not. Not everyone likes the sequel to a movie, but it is allowed to exist.

The thing to watch with older skin are its dependencies. Every version of Kodi introduces skinning changes: Some features are removed while other are changed. A stark example is the removal of the Character property in the video info dialog. This was replaced by Label2 in Isengard for ease of programming. As a result, old skins will no longer show the name of a character in the video info screen without an update to the skin. There are many such changes from version to version of Kodi.

A more important consideration are upgrades and changes to addons. Most skins depend on many addons for its features (e.g. widgets, home menus, media information, actor dialogs, etc.). These addons, if active, are constantly undergoing changes. Further, many addons become stale and the developer (perhaps due to life circumstances) may choose to move one. Cinema Experience is an example of addon that has not seen changes since before Helix. A loss of such support will eventually destroy previous functionality. Not to mention the fact, you are missing out on new features such as the constant improvement of the new ExtendedInfo script. These are features that must be added to the skin.

So, to summarize, new Aeon Nox is not Aeon Nox 4. But old Aeon Nox has moved past maturity and is now in its decline. So enjoy it while it lasts. Because it will continue to be less of what it was with each passing year. Unless someone updates it with the times.

I can't understand why that argument has to be drawn out over dozens of posts?

Besides as for a computer that eventually reached its limits even with new parts, you can not improve a skin indefinitely. There comes a time when it is necessary to start again from scratch (older code, redundancy, unnecessary or bugged bits of code) to start on a good foundation.

Here i have updated to Isengard unstable and installed the isengard version of SILVO from the first post but i found some bug... I currently download the github version to see if it remain and otherwise, i will report what i seen.

i found one little bug.
If i want to calibrate the screen from the System/Video menu, I can't see the corners. With others skin, there are colored limits clearly visible but in SILVO there is only the center scare and a black background. I must return under confluence to calibrate the screen.

Another thing : I would like to know too how to add, like the showcase view, the TV shows information to bannerPlex with a delays of 2s. I took a look at the parameters of the view but the menu is empty.

Post a screenshot please.

Right now the only places to add the info panel are in showcase and landscape, I am working on adding it elsewhere but it will be a little bit before I am finished since I am only working on that part irregularly when I have extra time.

With Confluence

with SILVO, there is only the ratio tool (center) who was displayed. Upper left, bottom right and subtitle stay absent.

Why does the screen resolution say 720 on the screenshot for my skin but 1080 on confluence? That could be one of the reasons for the issue or it has to do with your overscan of 31,17...

no i only take a screenshot of the kodi wiki because it was the same as me (except for the resolution). It the same text and values with all skins. I have already used the skin confluence to calibrate because I could not do it under SILVO.

I cannot replicate it so my only guess is missing icons in the skins media folder?? Try reinstalling the skin.

It does not effect the main Live TV channel list only the OSD (on screen display) when watching LiveTV. I can't recall how to display it... "M" key maybe Huh

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I added the InfoPanel to BannerPlex. If anybody wants to test it out it is on Git. If you notice any bugs please let me know.
