Can I drag the newly created folders back to the top level of my movies folder?

Yes, the worst that should happen is you have to refresh the list in ViMM, which is trivial, and reset the content for your sources in XBMC, which is not much worse (a little confusing the first time around - not intuitive).

lately I've been encountering a strange issue scraping plot/summary with a few movies, relating to parentheses and commas or possibly IMDB plotsummary links. here's an example for "The Impossible (2012)": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1649419/plotsummary

"), Henry () and their three kids - travel to Thailand to spend Christmas. They get an upgrade to a villa on the coastline. After settling in and exchanging gifts, they go to the pool, like so many other tourists..."

When going trough the IMDb plot summaries, i've added a filter to deal with some stray HTML tags, which apparently works a bit too aggressively on links with text inside.
I've changed it so that it removes the link tags more gently before filtering the other HTML tags, let me know if it works by trying out this debug build:

I have that same movie and noticed the same problem. With the new build, I first got this window,
Image
but when I clicked OK it finished and put in the plot summary correctly. Not sure if that error is related.
Thanks for all the amazing effort!

That one comes from TMDb, so it shouldn't be related, since it's a time-out error, most likely a temporary one on their end, hopefully it'll only rarely happen.
Try it again after some time has passed, and let me know if it's a constant error.

I think I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway :
When adding sources in xbmc, if my folders have already been dealt with by Viimm, do I just not select a xbmc scraper and xbmc will read the info contained in the source folders?
Thanks!

I believe it will take ViMM's info then, but you can still select a scraper as a 'back-up' method.
Either way, it doesn't hurt to give it a try Wink

Will do..Thanks

I've never paid attention to what scraper is selected. I don't see a way to select NO scraper. All I know is, ViMM gets everything for me and XBMC uses it without going online. Seems to work great!

Hi there,

I'm having issues downloading poster and fanart automatically.
The option to download is checked but I get no images despite the folder.jpg.

I've also noted that the preferences to limit the images being downloaded is not working at all.

I have tried to update (from v7 to v12) with no success and the images download normally if I download it manually editing the meta-data.

I'm on OSX 10.8.2 btw. Thank you all.
Cheers;

no images at all for auto-download? what happens when you choose the toolbar button 'Extras' and select the option to 'Download Missing Images for Selection'?
Could you show me a screenshot of your Extras settings?

Sure!

Here's a screenshot of the list on how it looks like after a 'fetch metadata': http://i.imgur.com/yxE3UNa.png (look at the icons under the first item, I have used the manual fetch on the following items to scrap the images.)

Here's a screenshot of the 'extras' in options: http://imgur.com/rTLvSQI

A couple months ago everything was just working, after a 'fetch metadata' all images were downloaded as they should, but out of nowhere, nothing happens. Just the .nfo and the folder.jpg are generated.

Thank you, awesome app, even with little things like these. Thanks.

Any special prefs necessary for this ? My experience is that XBMC doesn't use automatically the downloaded info's by ViMM.

@antoniomaxp: Those settings seem to be in order, but there's one more hidden away under the 'Services' button, select 'Fanart.tv' at the bottom of the list and make sure the checkbox in the upper right is selected/enabled.
If this was disabled before, once the service 'Fanart.tv' has been enabled, it should download art as normal, this option was most likely disabled through an update, a slight error on my part. ;-)

@MarkusK: If items where added to XBMC before you added them, you might have to reset your XBMC sources, or select an item, summon up the information menu, select 'Refresh' and choose to use 'local information' if the dialog comes up.
