Hey,
I had this exact same problem today. My crashlog and stack trace seemed to be pointing towards an issue with the nvidia drivers, however, I resolved the issue by deleting:
userdata/addons/repository.xbmc-adult
userdata/addons/repository.xbmcadult
Not sure which of those two repositories were the issue, but as soon as I removed them and restarted xbmc, it was all good.

Exact same problem. After I removed MaxMunsterman's repository from my addon directory xbmc started up fine again.

It seems like a more graceful way of handling bad data feeds should be added to XBMC if possible.

I am seeing the same problem.
I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 x64
Running Frodo 12.3
XBMC opens, then closes in less than 2 seconds.
Most of the posters here seem to have found different solutions.
I followed BrendenCA's suggestion. I disconnected the internet, then reconnected it and now XBMC seems to be working fine.
I uninstalled NO ADDONS NOR ANY REPOS. I did not touch my NVidia driver (actually using the default Nouveau driver).
Not sure what this means but I hope it helps someone.
(Thanks, BrendenCA)

What we know:
All are Linux systems (I need to search through other forums/platforms)
Problem has occurred on both Frodo and Gotham
Has been resolved by either:
Removing Repositories (various)
or Disconnecting Internet.
Question: did ALL of these crashes start happening yesterday?
I found it curious for my own part that two separate systems of mine both started doing this on the same day.
And suddenly we now have 12 people all reporting same issue.
Is there possibly some malware that was triggered at specific time, has been spawning through different repos?
Note that there about 10 threads started in last 24 hrs that all have theme of xbmc crashing!

the same happened to me also. It is problem with repositories.
I have narrowed down to those repos on my system, but the error must be somewhere else and even if the repo is broken or addon not supported xbmc should not crash:
repository.spacemonkey
repository.t0mm0
repository.flirc
