Turn off passthrough and it should work (2 channel only).

DTS not working also on my nexus A1 tv box with passthrough mode and optical link to amplifier DENON AVR 1706

android 6.0.1 / kodi 17.1

Settings on Kodi:
Enable passthrough: check
Dolby Digital /(AC3): check
DTS capable receiver: check

If I uncheck passthrough, the sound works in stereo mode

If read a movie with dolby surround and passthrough enabled, the amplifier detects the dolby and surround is working

Hint - the Sticky Passthrough Audio thread, Post #2 will give you an explanation and a DTS audio workaround.

Hello.
This is my first topic, so I would like apologize for my mistakes and my English.
I have a problem with passthrough DTS. My TV Sony KD-49X8309c (android 6.0) is connected with receiver (Pioneer VSX-820) by digital cable SPDIF, because my receiver does not support HDMI ARC.
When I play movie (.mkv) with DTS or Dolby Digital on standard Sony player, TV properly sending to signal to receiver.

When I play movie (.mkv) with Dolby Digital on KODI 17.3, TV properly sending to signal to receiver.
While I play movie (.mkv) with DTS on KODI 17.3, Kodi can not play movie. On TV appears black screen and nothing happens.
When I switch off "DTS capable .." in settings->audio output->
Video is playing correctly, but receiver can not correctly recognize audio.
Can I count on Your help?

You need to read: Post #2 in android forum, sticky topic.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Here's my setup:
The TV (Sony Bravia KD-55X8505C) is running Kodi 15.2 Isengard as an app directly on the TV and is connected to the receiver (Yamaha RX-V473) with HDMI on the ARC port)

Settings on Kodi:
Enable passthrough: check
Dolby Digital /AC3) capable receiver: check
DTS capable receiver: check

Log: http://pastebin.com/uB5cb0wr

I am hearing only clicking or static noise when testing playback of files with these settings.
I played a DD 5.1 movie at timestamp 16:45:30. Receiver stayed at PCM and gave only clicking/static noise
I played back a DTS 5.1 movie at timestamp 16:50:05 with the same result
I played back an AC3 2.0 ch movie at timestamp 16:51:26 with the same result
I played back an AAC 2.0 ch movie at timestamp 16:52:44 with success (normal sound output, receiver stayed at PCM).

The reason I believe the error resides in the Kodi android build:
I jumped into the netflix app also running on the TV. This has no problem playing back a DD 5.1 movie and when the movie starts the received correctly switches from PCM to Dolby Digital.
I jumped into my Raspberry PI 2 running Kodi through OSMC. This is connected directly to the receiver. I played the exact same movies mentioned above and the received correctly switches the audio decoder and outputs surround sound correctly.

I have not tried the same procedures on Jarvis as I have not yet sideloaded the latest beta.
I have not tried running an optical cable from TV to receiver (only tried this with HDMI ARC as I do not have an optical cable lying around currently)

Hopefully there's a fix for this issue currently or soon with Jarvis. Other than this surround sound issue I am having no issues whatsoever running Kodi on Sony AndroidTV and that's pretty awesome if you ask me.

Please help!

Hi guys .
I am new to this thread but I am facing the same issue. I transfer some movies to my new himedia Q10 pro player with Dolby digital sound, when I tired to play with kodi player, my onkyo receiver is only readin 2 channels, though I have I enabled pass through and everything else is ticked- but I am seriously cannot resolve this issue . However when I am playing the same file in media center it detacts the Dolby digital in my receiver very easily, so what the thing is, is there something wrong I am doing with kodi? If the same file playing correctly woh media center than why it's having issue with kodi player? Can anyone pls help ?

Please help!

Play video with the audio problem.
press "action menu" go to sounds/advanced setting/input related and put Dolby Dynamic range and/or HE-AAC dynamic range on STANDARD.

Which action menu you are talking about, I didn't get it and can't find Dolby dynamic in kodi player . Pls can you explain ?
