It's nothing that complex. It is just a keyboard that pops-up to enter the search term and then multiple lists that you can scroll up and down that each search by a certain criteria. i.e.
Movies with title containing search term
Tvshows with title containing search term
Episodes with title containing search term
Movies & Tvshows with a genre containing search term
Movies & Tvshows with year is search term
Movies & Tvshows with studio containing search term
Movies & Tvshows with actor containing search term
Movies & Tvshows with director containing search term
Movies with country is search term
Albums with title containing search term
Artists with title containing search term
Albums from Artist in above list
Youtube search using search term

Thanks for sharing that screenshot about Arnold Schwarzenegger. I just saw a great speech. 👍👍😃

Because I felt exactly the same way *until* I looked on the tv - somehow the effect is reversed when viewing on a larger screen from further away - the wider margins suddenly feel really cramped, whereas having shorter margins opens up the space. Plus the new shorter margins allow or more padding *between* items, giving a greater sense of room on the screen.
Thanks for the suggestion. I -do- like the new suggestion on TV with normal viewing distance. Amazing how different perception is.

Kudos for a great eye.

Love what you did of AZ.
Do you plan to add a large view with banner option like in AZ 1. It feet very well for tvshow (banner) for episodes view and for list of songs view.

Do you mean like this?

Thanks! I imagine that you are essentially building playlists dynamically. Very clever!
I'm literally wetting my pants - it's coming so great - can't wait Big Grin

Two questions:

1) Regarding Home menu and custom made 'Actions': I have two actions (one picking movies and the other picking only music concerts) in place in current A:Z (LE / Kodi 17.6). When it's time (read: A:Z 2 is available) and I make the upgrade to LE with Leia, do these A:Z actions inherit also to A:Z 2 Kodi set-up or do I have to place them again?

2) When installing A:Z 2.x does it inherit all, some, or none settings / configurations from A:Z 1 or does one configure that from scratch?

The home menus/submenus should carry over because those are handled by skinshortcuts.

Skin settings will need to be set again as the skin has a different skin id.

Widgets and background for each menu item will hopefully carry over, but the global widget and background will need to be set again.

Yep, that's pretty much what I'm doing - I'm combining custom made library nodes with a user-set search string. Nodes are essentially smart playlists in json format that have been url encoded into a library path.

Thx @jurialmunkey for reply.

1) I'll take note on the skinshortcuts anyhow.
2) Skin settings: thought so, will try to take existing ones on paper before updating (I guess that's most sophisticated method Big Grin)

Appreciated!

Looks brilliant so far, you may even have tempted me away from my beloved dark on dark mode from AZ1 haha

A couple of quick questions. Firstly I’ve noticed with some other skins there is the option to lock the view settings to that media type, so all movies will display as Large Icons for example. Will this be available in AZ2? I’ve had some problems recently with addons forcing their own views despite disabling this in their settings.

Secondly, and this one I imagine to be a little tricker, would it be possible to take the view locking (if we get it) one step further and have one view for movies from a certain source display one way, and others another? I may not have explained that one brilliantly so to add a little context, I would like to have my Trakt Watchlist display as Icons with extra Info and my other lists just as Icons, but it seems like selecting display extra info on any menu enables it for all menus currently.

Please feel free to shoot me down if this is nonsense or already doable within AZ!
I prefer the old versions, the composition looked much better before. Considering the opinions seem to be divided with three or four votes for each, would it be possible to offer a wide / narrow config option to toggle with the preferred look?
If it helps I much prefer the narrow margins

I wish it was easy to do, but it essentially means maintaining two different versions of the skin.

Did you compare the screenshots fullscreen on a tv at normal viewing distance? As I said above, I was completely in favour of the wider margins until I started using the skin on my tv, and then I found it really cramped - it's what prompted the change for me.

There's definitely value in both approaches, but ultimately I feel that designing for viewing at a distance should override designing for viewing close-up.

Yes, there will be the ability to lock a view to the content type (e.g. for all movies views, or for all episode views, or for all seasons views etc.).

I've thought about locking on a per add-on basis, but I haven't found any possible solution (other than hard-coding all the possible add-ons, which is just not a solution really).
