Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows

I, and I am sure others would happily pay decent money for this to be built and updated on a regular basis.
I'd just wait for v18 and see what happens. aracnoz has kept up with Kodi development for a long time now. When he is not busy and sees a release build is available, he may prepare another update. Or he may not...He isn't interested in money, as far as I know.

I tried Inputstream Adaptive with the YouTube app and it doesn't seem to work with DSPlayer. That is something I hope aracnoz catches for those who want to use the Netflix and Amazon apps. Neither will do 4K or HDR, so they aren't that exciting.

Without custom resolutions it would drop a frame every minute at least. with custom resolutions i can get it to stay in sync without frame drops for 3hours straight.
But buying a new graphics card would solve the isue as wel as my other pc has no trouble staying at 23.976 and wouldn't benefit from custom resolutions at all.
The custom resolution created by madVR is at the driver level, so it benefits any media player in Windows.
Then how would you make kodi videoplayer automaticaly switch to a custom resolution in stead of the drivers default 1080p23 setting?

have you created a custom resolution in MADVR CRU section, enabled refresh rate switching in MADVR, added 2160p23 or 1080p23 in display modes and then disabled KODI refresh rate switching?

wel that's the thing, i don't want to loose refresh rate switching. If i manualy select the custom resolution in the driver, everything wil be in 24p, wich is awful in gui's and doesn't work with any video material other then regular blurays.

With madVR's switching works flawlessly, but with videoplayer i can't make it switch to a custom resolution i expect.

The custom resolution replaces the default resolutions in the control panel. Generally, this is 23-25 Hz for Nvidia. If you can switch to 24p, this should use the GPU driver custom resolution. If VideoPlayer is less smooth, something else is going on. You rarely actually notice any frame drops, anyways.

Ok, because of a fresh OS instal I had to install and configure madvr and mpc-hc again. but created the custom resolution and kodi18 videoplayer indeed switches to it!
This is awsome!

Yeah usualy you don't notice an occasional dropped frame but when using a projector on a 120" screen you realy notice them especialy in slow pans and when they accur at least every 30 seconds.

comparing madvr and videoplayer again i just can't say wat it is exactly, maybe something with constrast or colors, but madvr stil seems to look better (maybe its in my head).

Will Kodi DSPlayer ever support Tvheadend? It really doesn't like it at all - it can't stop recordings, it can't zap to channels from either the channel list or the EPG, and it often gets into weird situations that require a Kodi restart. I'm kinda assuming that DSPlayer is the problem here just because I can't imagine mainline Kodi 17.6 having broken Tvheadend compatibility but I could be wrong...

Don't know too much about it, but it is pretty unlikely that functionality would be added.

I did confirm today on my Minix box that the non-DSPlayer version of Kodi seems to work fine with Tvheadend. Shame I can't use madVR with Tvheadend then Sad

So under windows 10 if madvr is installed you will get HDR10 correct? Just like if it's working on MPC, will work here

I have the Problem, after stoping playback of any 4K Video.

The Kodi menu shrunk to the top/left corner.

It is still in Fullscreen mode, after i switch to window mode and back, (ALT+ENTER 2 Times)
Kodi Fullscreen mode is good again.

System

6GB Gainward GeForce GTX 1060
8GB Ram
