One thing I can't seem to do is convert physical paths to special for backgrounds.
I've changed the paths in settings.xml but still show the physical path in GUI and when I transfer my install to laptop the backgrounds don't show.
What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks and all the best

Paul
Were you able to get this sorted? I've also searched for an answer on here. I could do this with Aeon Nox 5 with no problems, but now that I switched to Silvo, I can change the paths in the .xml, but when the skin shortcuts load for the first time after I transfer the setup to another device, they default back to the physical path.

Can you post a debug log (wiki)?

Please restart after enabling debugging so you have a fresh log and just play any video where this occurs, exit Kodi or use Kodi Log Uploader, then paste link to the log here.
 Hi,

Ok here are the steps/logs/clips of the stutter happening.

Clip 1
  • Clean install of Kodi 18.1 on Nvida Sheild from the Google Play Store (Build: 18.1 Git:20190222-75dc3d5  Compiled: 2019--02-22)

  • Downloaded repository.aeon.nox.silvo-1.0.5.zip from GitHub and installed from zip

  • Installed Aeon Nox: SiLVO 6.1.8 from repository

  • Added all media and configured the skin

  • Started playing a video and pressing OK to bring up the controls during playback was smooth. See 1st video below.

Here is the Log after this step

Clip 2
  • Deleted skin.aeon.nox.silvo folder

  • Downloaded the master branch from GitHub and extracted. Renamed extracted folder to skin.aeon.nox.silvo and placed it in the addons folder to replace the one deleted in the previous step

  • Moved OSD position to top

  • Started playing a video and pressing OK to bring up the controls during playback resulted in an initial stutter. See 2nd video below.

Here is the Log after this step

3rd example in next post due to forum limitation

Clip 3
  •     Replaced VideoOSD.xml in 16x9 folder with the version you posted.

  •     Rebooted

  •     Started playing a video and pressing OK to bring up the controls during playback resulted in an initial stutter. See 4rd video below.

Here is the Log after this step

I hope is of help.

There's a a significant drop in FPS as the overlay shows. This doesn't happen before the update to latest branch where the OSD position change option has been added

Quick question, where I can pre-configure settings for the skin?

Now if I updated silvo to the latest one it will override my current settings. Thanks

Updates do not change or delete settings. Sometimes settings may have different names and just need to be re-enabled if I change them.
Hmmm thats strange. Quick example. On my current installed version I have enabled option to "Always show submenu" - after installing new version this option is disabled.

Create a folder and name it backgrounds, within that folder create other folders with the seperate background images in each, name each of those said folders to whatever backgound shortcut you use. Put that folder into the userdata folder. Within kodi use file manager and add special://userdata/backgrounds
Now yout backgrounds will carry over to different devices

It appears to me that you are using the wrong version of the aeon.nox.silvo skin.

Thanks flhthemi for the info. Is there a way that I can get ahold of v6.1.8 outside of the repository? I only have access to the internet through my phone so I must download to the phone then transfer to my computer.

Cheers. I've been doing it a totally different way all these years. This is much easier!
