Release MLB.TV®

  • 60 FPS LIVE STREAMING TECH: Revolutionary 60fps live streaming video will be available to MLB.TV Premium subscribers. This HD technology will be available in 2017 on supported iPhones, iPads and Apple TVs as well as Chromecast™, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3, Roku®, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Don't see PC's, or Android TV's listed. Perhaps they can interpret what device you have (that the stream is going to), and either allow or deny the 60fps.
That was last yr., Pc is now 60 fps, at least when its working. Pretty much everything else listed is 60 now.

Yes it was last year, and according to their website, nothing has changed this year. Or at least nothing was announced that says otherwise.

Large discussion here about the 60fps myth that is MLB.tv...

The way that I interpret the comments in that reddit thread is that MLBTV uses streams of whatever resolution and frame rate that the local stations give them and that in some cases that's 1080i, which is 60 fields per second rather than 60 frames per second, which MLBTV is deinterlacing and downsampling to 720p/60fps.  In some sense that might be a fake 60 fps but it seems quite possible to me that that "fake" 60fps might look better than 30 fps.

Ok I have a fix for using with Kodi Jarvis 16.1.

First you need to d/l the spmc file matty8199 posted, post #1,085. Then download the python file I'm posting.  http://www.filedropper.com/python_3

After you have both files downloaded unzip the python file and copy and paste the python folder into your "Kodi" Jarvis folder, located under "program files (x86), paste it in the "system folder" replacing the python folder already in there and overwrite "all".  Then open kodi jarvis and install the mlb.tv spmc zip file from matty8199 and everything should work, it is for me anyways.

This worked for me as well.  That means that it is now working on all of my devices, both Android and Windows.

Is uninterrupted 60fps possible on any device, or mainly a Kodi issue??
try changing the CDN.  i watched the entire mets/marlins game at 60fps tonight with only 3 or 4 minor buffering spurts, each time it only held up for a second or two...was solid otherwise.  i had the CDN locked to akamai, as level 3 streams for me are always more prone to buffering.  YMMV.

Hi, I have a Vero 4k (osmc). If i purchase a mlb.tv subscription, will it work ok? I've been having second thoughts after reading some of the issues in this thread. thanks in advance.

The addon works great, thank erack!
The only problem I have is that condensed games are laggy: they start just fine but after a minute or 2 they stop to buffer and when they resume they look like they're in slow motion for the rest of the clip.
I'm running Kodi 18 on Rpi3 and, as I just said, the streams of complete games are perfect using both CDNs.
Any idea?

I haven't tried it without having a subscription already, but MLBTV has one free game per day.  Maybe you could test out the addon by trying to watch one of those games.

    - Re-Enabled stream quality setting (Best Available or Always Ask)
    - Minor bug fix
 Thanks for continuing to update!!

Using Kodi 17.6 on my Nvidia Shield it is working well with 1 exception - if I select "Always Ask" I then have no option to toggle the audio stream(s). I don't know if that is a bug or intended behavior.

Thanks again great work!
I am still seeing this with the latest version. Is this intended behavior or a bug??
Thanks

not sure if it's just that it's friday night and nobody is watching or if they're getting better with it, but i just watched the entire mets/brewers game at 60fps with no buffering whatsoever.  not once (at least not while i was sitting in the room, unsure if it skipped at all while i was in the bathroom or getting a drink).  CDN locked to akamai.

Same with the Boston games today and yesterday - maybe one or incidents of buffering per game with 60fps and Akamai CDN.  If it stays this way for the rest of the season I will be very pleased.

alright, i can't get anything to play...what am i doing wrong? i just updated to the newest version in the repo, and nothing works...

https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Z8BJBSb3R7/

Same thing for me, nothing plays and my log file shows the same demuxer error, anyone have any ideas? Also, brand new ubuntu 16.04 install, brand new kodi 17 install, latest mlb.tv beta, other streaming add ons work fine.
Just wanted to say thank you very much to everyone involved, especially eracknaphobia.  The above error has now been fixed and am now streaming games in brilliant HD!  I tried using the chromecast option while I was still having issues with the kodi add on but it kept buffering and degrading in quality, now I have this working on a hardwired connection into a chromebox with linux loaded on and it's working great, also using your nhl.tv add on for the playoffs, cheers!

P.S. eracknaphobia, i donated a few shillings, can't afford too much but thought I'd show my appreciation.  Thanks again.
