Thank you for detailed reply and screenshot.

I must say it looks really promising. you left out one of my questions though,

autopurge (automatic delete recordings), does it support it ?
I'm not sure if the NEWA 'auto records' feature allows you to specify auto purging on keyword recordings, but certainly recordings scheduled in the main app allow you to specify 'keep last x recordings'. If you tell it to keep the last 5 recordings, when it starts the 6th, it'll delete the oldest recording.

Quote:Also does it support full dvb based epg (full, not only now/next) ?
If they're transmitting more than now/next using the standard DVB EIT, then you'll get whatever they're broadcasting. Some parts of the world it's 7 days of listings. Some parts of the world it's a few days. Some parts only transmit now/next, and their use proprietary MHEG-5 data or other technologies for further out, in which case you can configure NextPVR for xmltv.

I only started this project a couple of weeks ago, so it's not really been tested against much at this stage.

Most of my testing has been against the latest Frodo builds on Windows. I have also built it in a Ubuntu 11.04 VM, and confirmed it can connect to the backend to pull in channels and listings, and confirmed I was able to start live tv and see video.

I've very much a Windows guy, and I dont have Linux machines around for testing on other setups. The addon code is fairly generic though, with no dependence on Windows.

There is no native support for this CableCard tuner, but I'm fairly sure people have used it successfully via the Network Recorder plugin (for example http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.php?5...ight=Ceton). It's not something I've tested though.

I haven't test it either because it doesn't work here in Canada I wrote the plugin but I have been told it works fine using either the internal or USB version. It actually uses the SageDCT program for recording and many SageTV users have success with it.

NetworkRecorder also supports several different tuners for NextPVR including firewire (32 bit oly), anything that can be recorded via WMC, anything that can create a DirectShow graph, r5000 devices, http devices lke Dreambox 1 and 2, DVBViewer devices and any http streaming site on the internet.

sub - this looks great, I remember having a play with GB-PBR several times, but always ended up going back to mediaportal at the time - not just because of all of the plugin and skin development, but mainly because of the work that dj-blu has put in on the UK satellite EPG - pulling in a full weeks EPG from the sat stream - and also tuning in the channels, assigning correct channel numbers and creating program groups - and updating when new channels are added or existing ones removed. Is this kind of auto-tune/EPG possible with NPVR, or is it being developed as this is a major reason for me to stay with MPTVServer otherwise.

There is a few proprietary things done in the UK on Freesat (like the EPG). In NextPVR I've mainly focus more on the stuff that is standard across the majority of countries. If I'd been in that part of the world, I'm sure I would have spent more time on these aspects. That said, there is some on going work to improve things with Freesat.

In general these Freesat channels already work fine in NextPVR, but setting up the EPG etc require a bit more work than they should.

Will Nextpvr work on WHS v1 ?

The destination of the record to directory on a network share? I have multiple xbmc instances and use a hdhr prime. One of the things that bugged the heck out of me when using WMC is that I could only record to the local hard drive and not a network share.

@bry-I have NextPVR recording perfectly to a cheap WD NAS. It could take some minor tweaking of permissions.if your share doesn't allow open //ip/share access but other than that it is seamless. You can also have optional recording destinations on the recording rule.

@Jönke Many users have commented that it works fine on WHS v1.

Hi guys,

found this thread today and I'm really interested in this.
After trying to abandon my large htpc as server and using some smaller devices as clients I'm looking again for XBMC and PVR.

I really also would like to have a look on NextPVR.
Does anybody have some experience with timeshifting in NextPVR? Is it possible to use this?
Will there be possibilities to use such timeshifting features in XBMC in Frodo or some Alpha/Beta releases?

Thx for the information

@haf-blade: Frodo does not have timeshift support at the moment, so even if the backend supports it, you cannot use it directly from XBMC itself.

OT:

@margro why is your timeshift code not in xbmc main ? Seems like such a waste, Because it was working when I tested. Unfortunatly now I only have linux clients and don't have access to use your builds Sad

Hi guys.

I'm not interested in PVR recording features per se but I would like stable XBMC Live TV features in Windows7 platform.

After testing Mediaportal 1.2.x (both XBMC add-on and standalone) found *lot* more stable W7MC, in fact I'm currently using the Advanced-Launcher add-on to launch W7MC and see Live TV from XBMC.

I wonder if NextPVR could be more stable than Mediaportal for seeing Live TV.

Regards.
