Integrated Video Game Emulators
(2013-03-04, 16:47)garbear Wrote: Definitely possible without much effort

I'll add key actions to save/load, once I start savestate management save/load using multi-button combos will be possible from event ghost. Currently you can send the Stop action from event ghost and it'll quit the game. I think by default the left stick also does this, and is configurable via joystick.xml.

Got any more ideas, event the complicated ones, let me know Smile

Ah yeah I know its still possible with eventghost however what I was wondering was if it'll be possible without eventghost, since eventghost is windows only and I don't plan on going back to windows for my htpc haha, too many problems.
@bry-, topfs2's Heimdall is on its way Smile (hopefully)

@holydhaliwal my new input abstraction can handle multiple button presses. I'll make sure combos happen.
While your looking at the axis code, maybe worth adding a speed limiter. Its totaly unusable in the XBMC GUI at the moment (moves multiple places with just a quick tap). I imagine its usually used for mouse use?

I'll look into a reduced-speed w/ acceleration curve for the GUI in the future. And please use the appropriate thread (perhaps this one) for general controller GUI requests.

I used the GUI as an example. I figured that the same issue would arise while in game (in menus an such).

Fair enough. Games have their own built-in speed curves, and we can't detect menu vs. gameplay, so I'd recommend against games as a special case.

What about systems that support full axis controllers? It might be nice to be able to tune those per systemMaybe a default with over rides?

Also, the more stuff you expose to python, the more puppies get their wings... Or something. =)
Meanwhile on the iOS front....

Three months later and the XBMCHUB guys didn't help out jack squat (except for a lot of stonewalling and BS excuses from SecureCircle and that ABrasher guy) and we are still in need of an iOS device. When the constant stonewalling regarding sending a device over started to indicate to me that money was the issue, I even offered to plunk down 150 Euros of my own goddamn cash in order to buy a iPad Mini - but hey, 'too much money' they must have figured - 'gonna get it done for cheaper' - yeah - like - how? Because there isn't any way to get it 'done for cheaper' when iPad 2s and ATV 2s are hoarded and sold for max resell value and when you live in a country (like I do) with 21% VAT taxes and customs that would LOVE to slap some extra 'tax' on any item being shipped to you overseas.

Really, I'm not going to beg people to 'pretty-please' send me a device so that I can give them lots of free ports on Cydia. I might be crazy in that I am willing to forgo a lot of 'easy profits' for unselfish reasons, but I'm not stupid in that I am going to take money out of my own pocket to buy hardware specifically because a certain segment of people would want a free alternative to payware emus/games on iOS. If the interest is there and if one Apple fan is interested enough in something *good for the cause* to the point where he might give up on his fetishistic desires to 'sell his old outdated iPad/iPhone at max resell value' and instead give it to one honest dev, then do let me know.

If not, then know what? I am NOT going to take money out of my own pocket just like I did numerous times in the past before just because people love to get stuff for free - they can simply pay Broglia 4 bucks per emulator then on Cydia, I don't care. I did the 'take money out of my own pocket' game already with Xbox 360, PS3, and Blackberry, and know what? I think I have proven by now that I can get this job done and that I am passionate enough and capable enough to provide the goods - if people want RetroArch, the libretro ports and platform integration with XBMC IOS to happen, then they can help out all the same. There is an initial port to iOS, but an initial port is 20% of the work - it's the maintenance that is the other 80% - and it's the maintenance that takes up the obscene amount of time that nobody else except for nutty me would want to invest in that.

I see people raking in 500 dollars EVERY MONTH with a shitty N64 emu port and COMPLAINING about how they're getting 'too little in donation money' and yet one secondhand iOS device is 'TOO MUCH' to give? And for what? Because you Apple fanboys want to 'sell it off secondhand' for maximum cash?

If the iOS community doesn't care about improving the payware situation, then I won't care. Keep buying the frameskippy iOS ports on Cydia for 2/3/4 bucks per pop, forget about RetroPlayer integration on XBMC IOS and libretro ports being maintained with iOS support every day - let's just leave the situation exactly as-is.
Cot damn thats a lot of misdirected anger.
Uh oh :/ Squarepusher, XBMCHUB is not associated with XBMC and we actively try to disassociate ourselves with them due to certain differences. Why are you asking them for test units? They are neither XBMC developers nor, to my knowledge, have even posted in this thread. I'm not familiar with XBMC's cydia situation (I expect another dev to chime in), but we are very concerned with quality and "libretro platform integration with XBMC IOS" will never come from Team-XBMC until we have full stability and no frameskippiness. Furthermore, we assume all maintenance for anything with XBMC in the name - besides, I would hate if my project to slowed you down from the great work you've done so far. I've sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours into this project so far with the aim of expanding libretro, so I hope you can accept my apology for my experimental code causing you grief.

From our homepage:

Clearing Up Confusion
Recently we’ve noticed a fair amount of confusion about what software is offered by Team XBMC and the XBMC Foundation. To clear up that confusion, we’d like to direct everyone to the XBMC Software page, which lists all the software XBMC officially supports. If you happen to run into some software that is not on the list that appears to be offered by XBMC, don’t hesitate to ask about it in the General Discussion area of the forum.

We’d also like to take this time to ask the operators of all XBMC fan sites and related sites that use the name “XBMC” to include an official disclaimer, preferably on the front page, but at a minimum on your About page and on any software you distribute and on any official press releases that includes the following language: “(Insertname) is not connected to or in any other way affiliated with XBMC, Team XBMC, or the XBMC Foundation. Furthermore, any software, addons, or products offered by (Insertname) will receive no support in official XBMC channels, including the XBMC forums and various social networks.” We believe that language will effectively clear up most confusion. We would also appreciate if any users who come across a site that uses the XBMC name without this disclaimer to inform us either on the forum or via our contact page.

They approached me via this thread (as registered users -ABrasher and an account called 'XBMCHUB') and then there was a lot of communication on Skype regarding actually getting something sent over (which of course never happened - 'gonna get it done today' - then another month goes by - then more BS a month later -then more - and always the infamous 'backpeddle' as to why they couldn't do it).

Let me be clear, I was only venting my frustration at the XBMCHUB guys (I know they will be reading this) that have wasted three months of my time and more in getting my hopes up over actually receiving anything so I could get some development done. I was even desperate enough to offer them the option of me taking money out of my own pocket and chipping in 150 Euros so that I would share some of the financial burden as well. I know by now (after having looked at other posts in other threads where similar issues seems to have transpired) that they are not related to Team XBMC and to be frank I should have started exploring other options a lot sooner as soon as I started to suspect they had no intention of actually delivering anything.

I am totally in support of RetroPlayer, garbear and others' efforts in here and I only WISH I could help out by doing my part in getting it all ready for iOS. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the support is there.
Yeah so... not really the place to vent about someone not sending you something for free.

Idk what happened, but if you want to PM me or post on the xbmchub forums (where it's more appropriate), I'll be glad to figure out where it stands and if it's still an option. I know we've bought hardware for devs before for testing addons so that leads me to belive there's just a miscommunication somewhere
So sorry for the delay in getting you this FREE DEVICE has inconvenienced you to the point of making this post. If you would like to further discuss where we are at or the options we have left, respectfully, we are happy to continue this discussion in private via Skype, or on our forum.
will always be grateful for XBMC and XBMC.ORG

First of all, you and me never talked and I don't even know you - so frankly you don't get to decide what I 'vent' about and whether or not what I have to say puts your 'XBMCHUB' organization in a flattering light. It obviously isn't putting it in a flattering light but that is the point.

Frankly I don't even see why you guys are tolerated on this board - if I had a couple of subversives in my own project trying to pass themselves off as 'Team Libretro' or 'RetroArch Hub' I would have thrown down the gauntlet a long time ago.

'Something for free' - you people are acting if you actually DELIVERED ANYTHING and that I should be grateful for that. All you have to show for yourself is failed promises and keeping somebody on the hook for over three months. Oh and BTW, the last time me and SecureCircle talked, the 'sending something for free' part amounted to me chipping in over 150 Euros of my own cash - just sayin'.

Fact is - I have exactly ZERO REASON to be grateful towards you guys for ANYTHING. You haven't done ANYTHING except waste my time for over three months on false promises. RetroPPlayer iOS could already be a done deal and so could have been all the libretro ports to iOS.

Yeah right - as if I am going to go to the trouble of registering on your forum just to listen to more BS. BTW - you had me on Skype but I saw just recently 'has not shared his contact details with you' after the (already two weeks) blackout already ('we'll make our final decision as to what to do - blablablabla - gonna send it to you over today - blabalbablalblalbal'). So looks to me like you had me 'deleted' from my Contacts page all the time after you got 'miffed' the last time because I was no longer swallowing your 'stories'.

I'm sorry to garbear even for derailing this thread but just felt you XBMCHUB guys had to be called out since it seems you guys are already causing more than enough problems for the REAL XBMC team in another thread.
Mini-kickstarter! It would totally work. Give me a number, how much it would cost for getting you iOS dev hardware.
