In fact it's not because it's broken, it got retired. Universal Scraper is its successor. It does the same and much more than the IMDb scraper before.

Could someone please explain how to "switch to another scraper"? I have IMDb 2.6.3 installed on Eden, and the option to disable it is greyed out and can't be selected. I installed Universal Scraper, but the IMDb one keeps getting used by default and I can't seem to find any way to force a switch to Universal...
Thanks

Use Videos > Files and locate your movies source folder and highlight it. Open the context menu ("c" on keyboard or right mouse click) and choose "Change content". On the "Set content" page, select Universal Scraper (assuming you already have this installed) and save the changes. If you have other movies source folders defined, rinse and repeat the above.

Yes, thank you Artrafael. I find it very odd that I had to search so hard to find this. Such a major change to a key feature of XBMC should have been included in Frodo. Failing that, an announcement or warning popup would have been nice.
Me noticing something is broken, then having to scour the forum for a personalized solution, is a procedure that should only be necessary for rare or unexpected problems, not mainstream issues/changes like this.

Kind of a pity that imdb is no longer active. I have optimized all my file names to correspond with the title on IMDb. all 2500 movies. This used to make scanning 100% accurate. The new scraper picked up Bad Boys 2 (2003).avi was picked up as some spannish movie with the cover of 4 topless men. Looked kind of like a gay porn movie :p
That is just one example. I'm now busy scanning, then manually fixing all the errors, so that I can go into library mode.

must be something with your setup then,
because i got also that movie and Universal Movie scanner didn't have any issues scrapping it.

sometimes the release years don't match between IMDB and TMDB depending on what date they use for release.
they each have their own way of declaring it when that was
