I just received my 847DYE unit yesterday and am trying to set it up with Openelec.
I plan on booting it from a USB key so I did not purchase an mSATA drive.
I installed a single stick (4GB) of Kingston Ram.
When I power it on all I get are three blinks of the blue light.
According to the intel forums this indicates a memory error.
I have already replaced the RAM to rule out a bad stick.
Does this unit require a connected mSATA to pass the POST?
Is there another way to get into the BIOS and set it to boot from USB?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can assure you that it does not require a mSATA plugged to pass the POST. Mine is booting OpenELEC from a USB key with no other storage connected. I also have a single stick of Kingston RAM.

Thanks for the quick response Mr. Bogus
Maybe I'll go pick up yet another brand of RAM and give it a shot.
What mhz is the RAM you are using ?

DrowningApe,
You were right, the RAM module was not in all the way.
It required a lot more force than I thought it would.
I haven't been able to confirm that I can get into the BIOS, but I no longer have the memory error.
Thank You so much for the help

The Celeron has HD2000 GPU as reported by HWInfo64.
The CPU won't be used much for tuning/recording unless your tuner doesn't have a HW decoder in it (unusual). It does fine for LiveTV though Intel's de-interlacing leaves much to be desired so just pass the signal through to your TV to do the de-interlacing.
