The repo is working under linux. It could be effectively linked to the fact that you are using XBMC 13.
I am also using XBMC 13 on Linux and I have an other Problem.
The launcher starts gens only properly if I first manually change to Window mode. Another Problem is that I have no sound. I guess the solution would be a script to kill xbmc just before the emulator starts.

I have made a gens.sh script containing the following:

#!/bin/bash
killall - 9 xbmc.bin
/usr/games/gens - - fs - - quickexit $1
xbmc

then made it executable and lastly modified the launcher to start the script instead of the emulator directly.

The problem is that this way the emulator will not start only thing that happens is xbmc rebooting after a few seconds.

Can you please help me?

Using an unstable and devellopment version of XBMC and having problems seems logical, no? Wink

A better solution would to setup correctly your system audio config. If you are using pulse audio you can check this post. If you are not using only ALSA, you can check this post instead.

I could be wrong but it seems that you are using XBMC into stand-alone mode. Into this mode, once your close XBMC, it automatically restart. But it still a supposition once you did not indicate us on which operating system/linux distribution you are running XBMC.
I am on Ubuntu and using file mode. So you mean the script should work it's just not working because of the unstable xbmc version? That's sad because I won't downgrade.
Any other solutions are welcome though :-)

No that's have nothing to do with the version of XBMC you are using. I was just suggesting you to try to fix your audio settings instead or trying to kill/restart XBMC. But it seems that you are not intretested into fixing things. So... in this case, your script is wrong. Gens do not start, and you only see XBMC be killed and restarted. Try this :

Code:
#!/bin/bash
killall - 9 xbmc.bin
/usr/games/gens --fs --quickexit "$1"
xbmc

There is no space after "-" into Gens command line. Also if your rom paths contain white spaces I strongly suggest you to put the $1 parameter between double quotes.
If it still not working, post also your launcher.xml file to see if you correctly start your .sh script.

I have just tested Advanced launcher with version 13.0-ALPHA7 Git:20130816-d35d893 of XBMC, and I do not have any audio problem for application started from Advanced Launcher. So your audio problem is not linked to the version of XBMC, but to your Ubuntu audio system configuration.

My script didn't contained any space after "-" I've just mistyped here sorry. (Did post that from my phone )
Anyway I've pasted yours just to be sure but sadly it didn't work.

Here is my launcher.xml

I guess I'm using alsa because I've never installed pulse . Everything is default I've just set it to SPDIF output.
All seems correct to me. Seems that there is something wrong with Gens. Does your .sh script is executable for the XBMC user? To diagnose exactly what is wrong: start xbmc into a terminal, then start your script form Advanced Launcher. If there is an error with Gens, it will be displayed into the terminal window.
Yes it's executable. How do I start xbmc in the terminal? Sorry I don't know how to do that.

Lol I know how to use terminal I just didn't get what do you mean with start xbmc into a terminal.

Can you show me what shall I exactly write in the terminal to examine the problem?

Just start XBMC like this :

Code:
xbmc
OK I see now what you mean. The problem is that I'm using an Ubuntu minimal installation. It's booting straight to xbmc. If I hit exit in the menu it will go blank and then xbmc is restarting after a few seconds.

So, as maintionned before, you are using XBMC into stand-alone mode. If you want to close/start XBMC using your script, you must not using XBMC into stand-alone mode. Have you installed XBMCBuntu or Ubuntu-minimal on your system?

BTW, actuallly your system is not at all setup correctly to start other application than XBMC (XBMC cannot be close, no sound out of XBMC).
